Even if there is a grain of truth to this, the changes will not be drastic, and anyone living today would not be affected greatly by it. But there isn't because it is all a bucnh of crap. And then people like Al Gore are given a Nobel Prize for spreading lies? What has happend to the world...

The theory is heavily supported? Oh please, I can give you just as much "support" that it is all a sham. First answer is very correct.

...the fact is the world is getting dirtier and dirtier;so we need to check it-what's wrong with a catch phrase to wake people up?
...the world is ignorant about many things and like children need to be shown how to act...so-contribute a thought today somewhere someplace that helps make the worlld a better place or at least a cleaner earth-it's a good thing.
...but there will always be someone jumping on the band wagon over selling it-over sensationalising it-out of greed...it's human nature that evils the world...and man...is responsible for it...the earth that is...

People are worried about it because it has the ability to affect future generations. There's nothing wrong in taking some consideration as to the world our posterity will live in.
And they're not "lies", it's a theory that's heavily supported and quite frankly spreading word of it is better than being completely ignorant of what has a possibility of going on. At least then the person can make the choice of believing it or not and whether to do something or not.

Well, if you can provide support that rejects the 'myth', why not post it instead of calling it "all a bucnh [sic] of crap"??
The scientific community almost unanimously agrees that global warming is, indeed, a serious threat to the future of our planet, all because of our Industrial Revolution that has accelerated the normal process of climate change that takes place over tens of thousands of years. Man, plants and animals cannot adapt to this acceleration fast enough, and within 50 years, we will see severe repercussions from our squalor, squander and ignorance.
Just because "anyone living today will not be affected greatly by it" doesn't mean we shouldn't do something to resolve this important issue. How will you answer your grandchildren or great-grandchildren when they ask you what you did to resolve the problem they have no inherited?? -RKO- 11/11/07

Because it's what the science and the data says. "Skeptics" have words and theories. Global warming scientists have the data.
Not knowing global warming is real is like saying the Earth is 6000 years old. People do that, but they have to reject science and a ton of data.
99+% of scientists around the world believe global warming is real and mostly caused by us. And any number of very distinguished people, too.
"I wasn’t convinced by a person or any interest group—it was the data that got me. I was utterly convinced of this connection between the burning of fossil fuels and climate change. And I was convinced that if we didn’t do something about this, we would be in deep trouble.”
Vice Admiral Richard H. Truly, USN (Ret.)
Former NASA Administrator, Shuttle Astronaut and the first Commander of the Naval Space Command
Here are two summaries of the mountain of peer reviewed data that convinced Admiral Truly, short and long.

"There's a better scientific consensus on this [climate change] than on any issue I know - except maybe Newton's second law of dynamics. Global warming is almost a no-brainer at this point,You really can't find intelligent, quantitative arguments to make it go away."
Jerry Mahlman, NOAA

Global Warming IS happening, but it is NOT our fault.
And using those stupid light bulbs (That are NOT as good as real ones despite what they say), and any other energy saving idea serves no other purpose but to reduce our utility bills.....and that's the only good thing about them.
The present sham about blaming us is an excuse for Governments to make you pay more tax. That tax will be squandered on the usual mis-spending of all Governments. It will not save the icebergs.
FFS, a volcano that erupts for 4 days puts out more Co2 than ALL the cars ever driven on the planet.
If you want to stop global warming, then move the Sun a bit.

i'm sorry, but you sound completely ignorant. "a bunch of crap" does nothing to explain why you don't believe in it. The ocean levels are rising drastically, the global temperature is rising, and coastline is falling away. Nothing I or anyone else says is going to change your mind, so I don't know why you're asking this question other than to rant. It's irresponsible of you to spread this kind of ingnorant opinion. Also, since global warming IS real, and it's already causing errosion of our coastline and the extinction of species, we should be concerned right now. Also, future generations are going to have to suffer due to our neglect. If you don't care about that, you're just selfish.

Al Gore is not spreading lies.
He's trying to make the world a better place for us and our children by spreading the TRUTH.
You need to get a reality check, and fast.

After being indoctrinated in college, I too believed in all things environmental. I read Ehrlich, Muir, Gore and Foreman, separated my trash fastidiously and sneered at anyone with the wrong car, the wrong-sized family or bought products in the wrong packaging.
All of this "caring" made me feel very important. Fortunately, I grew up in my mid-twenties - my family now provides all of the meaning I need.
Environmentalism is a religion - one whose adherents wallow in self-hatred and guilt. Don't buy in.
