You don't find God making Adam by snapping his fingers. He uses the earth (matter) and breathes into man (spirit).
Also note that the woman was not made from Adam's foot. She was not to be walked on by man. The woman was not made from Adam's back. She was not supposed to walk behind the man.
The woman was made from Adam's side. That meant she was to walk beside the man.... and that was God's intention from the beginning.

I am sure that if God wanted to snap his fingers to make a woman, he could. There is alot about the creation that we don't understand. I think of the accounts we have of the Creation in Genesis as God talking to us as his children. If a child asks you a difficult question, like where do babies come from, you wouldn't get into the mechanics. You would give them a simple, watered down version. It wouldn't be a lie. It would be the truth, but it would be the truth in the simplest form you could make it so that they could understand.
Here it seems that someone asked God where did Adam and Eve come from and how the world was made. I am sure it is a very complex process to make world and all. Take God on his word. But also know that there is more to the story and I am sure that we will get the rest of the story some day after we pass from this life and can better understand.
I view the account in Genesis a little differently than alot of people. In Genesis it says that God took a rib from Adam and created Eve. If Eve was viewed by God as lesser than Adam, perhaps He would have used Adam's toe or finger or other part of his body. I think that the rib is symbolic. As a woman and a man stand side by side, their ribs are side by side. Not one in front of the other, or behind the other. Thus, stating that in His eyes, men and women are equals. God is teaching an important lesson here!
Throughout world history, men have dominated all society. Up until this last century, that is. I think that coming from scripture written thousands of years ago in a male donminated world, it speaks volumes as to God's view of the roles of men and women. While they have different roles, different jobs to do (mother father, etc,) they are viewed by God as equal in importance and value to Him. God loves all of us equally, none more than another, none less than another.
And more importantly, that is how we should value each other. None more than another and none less than another.
I have never seen in scripture anything about Adam having another wife or having sex with animals. I would like for the other people writing about those things in the comments to site their sources, please. They sound blasphemous to me.

Why you people keep asking why God this and why didn't do this way and that way all the times. God is not going to tell me or you the answer of your question. We neither have wisdom like God has nor can even think why he does things in certain ways.
We can only think why but we don't answers unless God explained in any of the Gov's Revelations.
I suppose God wanted to show humans that He can create any way he wants. Adam without mother and father, Eve without Adam having ovary and uterus and breast the feed milk to baby Eve. God created Jesus without father and Christians call him Son of God. Doesn't Adam has more right to be called son of God being no human mother and father.
How you may ask how God didn't make the earth flat instead of being round. I ask you to think, will life be possible on this plant if it was flat?

As no one else was there who wrote this stuff? There was a snake and an orchard. His rib was stolen and without his say so. Some gods are terrible thieves. Unless this has nothing to do with 'the beginning' but an account of surgery and the use of bone growth and transplant.

Consider this: The rib serves a vital function in the body--to protect the heart and lungs. If Adam had kept all his ribs but not had Eve, he would have been physically safer and more secure, but he sure would have been alone. If we never enter into a relationship with another person--never risk loving--we might feel safer, but what kind of a life would that be? Do you ever consider the deeper ramifications of the creation account?

There is a quote from the Talmud that I think is appropriate for this question.
Woman was created from the rib of man.
She was not made from a part of his head to top him,
nor was she made from his feet to be trampled on.
She was created out of his side to equal him,
under his arm to be protected by him
and near his heart to be loved.

The bible was written by MEN, not women. So MANkind had to make women a footnote, an after-thought, an "also-ran", a "help meet", an extra with walkon lines in the docudrama and infommertial of male-dominated control and repression. The entire bible was written by MEN who hated women. Plain and simple. That explains a lot, doesnt it?

To perpetuate men's subjugation of women! This is exactly why the Bible shouldn't be taken literally!
