put on some headers, a good cam with solids, and a clifford manifold (adapter) with 3 Holleys, it will make sweet music.

There are really no 'easy' bolt on hp fixes for the I6. I've owned several 170's and 200ci mustangs. About your only real options are a cam (there are several available), the intake cannot be removed as it's part of the head, but, you can remove the head and have the #1 and #6 intake ports enlarged just a touch as each end runner tend to run a bit leaner because the carb is in the center and they are the furthest away. While that's being done you can have the carb mount boss milled down until it's wide enough to accept a Weber 2bbl carb, then have the inside ported to match the carb venturi shape. Don't even think about putting a 4bbl on it, you'll never get it to run right, a 2 bbl is more than enough flow. I don't think anyone makes a mail order header, but, you can definitely have a tube header made. That's about all you can reasonably do.

You can also contact the boys over at the mustang ranch. They live, dream, and talk about mustangs. the Ford performance catalog may also have some options for you.

Well you can try here http://www.cliffordperformance.net/. They specialize in racing the six cylinders. Claim they can make them as peppy as a V8. Just understand that you'll also need a good machine shop to do most of the work and it isn't cheap. The old saying is, "Cubic power costs cubic$$$$", and I've found that to be very true.

you can get a split header setup for dual exhaust and there are a few manufacturers who make a four barrel intake for this. get a mallory or some brand of aftermarket ignition. it will much improve performance and economy wont really suffer if it is an issue

Just leave it alone and drive it nicely.

It probably has the 4 lug wheels on it and is really just a nice daily driver.

The 5 lug ones are meant to be higher performance.

Gas is going to be $4 a gallon here shortly anyway!
