I totally agree. It seems disrespectful to simply unload a bunch of garbage, not bother to do a spell check, not bother to use proper grammar, or proper sentences - but expect Yahoo! readers to give serious and thoughtful responses.
The short answer is likely -- laziness.
The long answer is, we are raising a generation of semi-literates. They watch videos and movies instead of reading. They use cell phones (interminably and at inappropriate times) they send text messages with weird abbreviations and in general, do everything in their power to avoid reading, writing - or proper etiquette.
There was an interesting rant the other day about why children have to spend so much time learning cursive writing, when all they will ever have to do is sign their names. That person had a point - but I'd like to think that I'll be dead and gone before that actually happens.
Sorry, you didn't invite a rant, but you did touch a sensitive spot.

My dear sir, you are dealing with the world. I must admit, that as a writer who has had grammar and spelling drilled into my head with a diamond bit, I too am distraught at the misspellings on this and all forums.
however, I am quickly learning tolerance. I have a young woman in my xontact list who is bright, clever and funny. She also spells horribly. It used to drive me crazy, but I have since discovered that english isn't her first language. In that case, she spells very well.
So, I am letting it go these days, unless of course the mispellings and grammatical errors are in a post insulting someone else.
Also, I have noticed that since I get very involved in what I am writing, I frequently have typos. So, I have decided to sit quietly in my glass house, since none of us are perfect. :)

I'm sorry if I don't know how to use proper grammar and I try my best to use correct spelling. I guess I'm not smarter than a fifth grader, huh? By the way, English is only my second language.

Don't be ignorant. Everyone in this world is not at the same gramatical level. Just because someone does not know how to spell or to properly formulate a question does not mean they should not have the opportunity to ask it.
Although gramatical errors are one of my pet peeves, I am not perfect, nor is anyone else... (although some people are damn close...).

it relatively is gloomy to be sure how grammar & spell examine pass by using a grinder. as a results of text cloth acronyms & grammar "convey lane" practice. it relatively is o.k. to apply individually (family contributors & buddies) to a factor in spite of the undeniable fact that it is going to likely be a no-no interior the expert international. as far as spelling is going, i do no longer think of spelling is inspired in preparation as much because it replaced into as quickly as replaced into. I hear from many "do exactly your superb".

Seventeen years of Catholic school has taught me to use perfect grammar. It irks me when I see misspellings and verb/noun disagreement. What ever happened to diagramming sentences?

Funny you should ask that.
I made a comment to some one about that and pissed them off. Oh well , it seems in the age of text messaging people have forgotten how to spell.
They don't seem to understand that it makes then look lazy and uneducated.

You may join my club. It drives me bananas too! And it seems like those with horrible skills get the maddest if you try to correct them.
