A television program which showed life as that of an early settler in the 1890s - said that only 10% of the population were religious (practiced their religion daily) - and then said, this has not changed.
I would believe this figure - or even say 10-20%. You need only go driving around on a Sunday, and see who does attend church regularly these days? Less than 10%?

Even in muslim countries - you may perhaps expect this figure to be much much higher?
If that was the case in Iraq - after the US invasion, if it was a muslim country, you would think that the clerics would say 'Now at last, we can have peace!' - if they were 90% religious - they would be able to gang up on the insurgents?
Only problem is - there is no unifying religious force there - but are divided in religion. And in a divided country, the insurgents can do what they like... There is no authority in control who can stop them.

According to the link referenced in the second reply there are 22 major religious groupings. It also shows that whatever your belief you will always be hugely outnumbered by people that believe in something else.

Which of the 22 religions you take up is very largely determined by your place of birth and the beliefs of your parents. What makes people believe that the religion they inherited in this way is the correct one?

What do you think will happen to those that believe something else. If you are a Christian then the bible tells you they will be condemned to Hell. Does this sound credible to you?

What if the muslims are correct? If that is the case then all Christians will be going to Hell. Does this concern you at at all?

Between 75 to 85%, depending upon where you look. Most of which is accounted for by the "big three" (Christianity, Islam, Hinduism).

The more important question is what YOU believe.
