That's because, Truth be told, The Catholic Church is not the "Whore of Babylon". No one wishing to be taken seriously is going to consider this possibility. From a logical standpoint, it's nonsense! The Bible spends 26 New Testament books building up the Church only to have the 27th book tear it down? It makes no sense.

As for 666 specifically, like most "signs" in the Bible, there are several layers of meaning. 666 was code for the Emperor Nero.

OOPS--here in the south, we RAISE crops and cattle but we REAR OUR CHILDREN! ;-) BUT---

I also was reared in the Roman Catholic Church (please remember the church you were reared in was the ROMAN Catholic Church---because CATHOLIC means universal---) So the church itself can be referred to as the CHURCH TRIUMPHANT. Because we will be triumphant in the end.

I am not sure what you were taught but the 666 I read about in my scripture is the number of the anti-christ. And the anti-christ is anyone who has an aversion to the truth of Christ. Do I believe there will be a LITERAL/PHYSICAL anti-christ---you bet I do----but the teachings of the church about 666 and the whoredom must deal with the way we approach our beliefs. Sometimes we fall down and worship idols---possessions/money/drugs/etc.

Perhaps you could try to learn something more about what the scriptures say and less about what you were taught. We all learn from our mistakes. And we learn quickly---if we point our face in the right direction.

Six according to numerology is mans number. What if 6 symbolized the incorrect belief in God and 6 symbolized the incorrect belief in his Son and 6 symbolized the incorrect belief in the Holy Spirit? That means a lot of people must already have the "mark of the beast" because it is in their minds and by their works (hand) they've performed marvelous 666 works.
