Management needs to know how lazy this person really is? What can I say or do without being a snitch? What can I say to the co-worker instead of listening to how hard they supposedly work? I need a clever retort--in a polite way-- to let them know I'm not buying their phoney act. Their fake performance is dragging down the whole floor. Help!!!

My suggestion would be to not confront this person. What they are doing, though annoying, isn't really detrimental to you. Management knows more then you think. They are just not at liberty to say anything.

If this person were to take credit for someone elses work, or yours, Then it is very appropriate to go to your boss confidentially and say "She is taking credit for someone else's work.

Now, If you want to make a point, next time she's kvetching (which means complaining) say "Oh, I know, why just today I did this" And innumerate a list of all the things you did. Then invite her to do the same. Maybe She'll figure it out. maybe she won't. Either way it might be interesting.

DO not say anything, you might lose your job if you do.
I had another co worker that was so lazy while I worked my rear off each day- he would read papers, sleep at his desk and do anything but his job. He knew I was pissed about this, probably from my dirty looks I threw in his direction, so he decided to concoct this completely phony story to our boss about me and I am the one who got fired not him!
Its ok, as about a year later, I heard that this company folded and all employees lost their jobs, so bad karma does come back and bite you in the rear eventually! Serves them all right I say!

Ignore. What comes around, goes around! If there is any measure of productivity in your business, it will show up without you being the snitch.

Just give a 'wave' with your hand and say, "You're so dramatic!" Let her realize that you don't buy it at all and that she needs to get a life! Don't give them the attention they're seeking____, you are re-inforcing their actions by listening to them and then 'reacting to them'. Get about your business and give them no time.
