Blood and kidneys are the garbage pickers. They both carry waste away.

The answer to your first question is really general. There is not just one main function of blood and there is not just blood, blood has many different compants. However a big job that "blood" does is transport, weather it be o2 on hemoglobin, nutrients, waste, if you want to get more detailed you have venus and arterial blood as well that do different jobs.

Your kidnays have three main function filteration, secreation and re-absorbtion. Filteration of the blood happens in the glomarious, and secreation and reabsorbtion happens in the DCT, PCT, loop of henly and collecting ducts. You reabsorb many different things, including sodium, water, chlorine, just to name a few. If you need more info please feel free to e-mai me at jbark8831@yahoo.com.
