I never used a program and always had a job. Try this formula and then change to fit your needs.
Center top name
Center top address and phone number
Bold left side of paper EDUCATION
List High school (if you list year you graduate they will know how old you are if you care)
List Colleges you attended and if a degree
Bold left side of paper HONORS
This would be areas you have received special recognition in school or community efforts
BOLD left side of paper EMPLOYMENT HISTORY
List current backwards
Name of Employer
Address phone number
Job title
Supervisor
Dates of employment June 2006 to present
June 2006 to Sept 2007
Duties Be specific and tailor works if they apply to the new job you want. Do NOT lie.
Reason for lealving moved, better job, personnel issue, did not make probation, etc.
Bold left side of paper REFERENCES Do NOT use relatives or friends, employers especially supervisors or teachers
1 Never list social security number or whether you are married, or have kids
2 Give them a a copy to keep. Many times you can say see attached on a job application that way after you list on the application your current or last employer. Keep a master on the computer
3 Update the resume, called VITA, for every new job application or change of jobs.
