And if someone is a good person, do you really think that God would condemn them to Hell merely for disbelieving in him?

Some people like the organization that religion provides. Being surrounded by people like them, who feel generally the same way they feel.

I do not believe that God would condemn any good person to Hell; after all, "charity shall cover the multitude of sins."

Religion is used to keep the masses in control.

I'm not saying I agree with or disagree with this as there are people who NEED some kind of agreement to keep themselves in line.

I believe in God and I do not think that he will send others to hell for unknowing, but I think that He would have a problem with those that make derogatory statements about Him.

Blessings!

Their upbringing. while you're rigidity fed religious thoughts, strategies and perspectives from an early age, and it is all biased to a minimum of one faith (ie not interpreting different religions) then you definitely will stand by way of your faith, and could not renowned others. My grandparents could have merely been taught approximately christianity while they have been youthful, not the rest. while in recent times i'm at the instant interpreting religious study at GCSE, and it is not approximately bible thoughts, you will desire to study a topic rely (eg abortion) and study a least 2 faith's viewpoint (frequently christinaity and islam).

Even Jesus said about the religious but lost, "Many will say to Me in that day, Lord Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name? And I will declare to them (the religious ones), I never knew you, depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness." Being "religious" is not what God seeks from us.

One can be "religious" and not believe in the God-Man, the only Savior, which is a false religion. That is, one that can deceive many Christians.

Good by whose standards? It is written (Matt. 6:42), "The good eye looks at the will of God, that the body may be filled with the presence of God, who is the light. The good eye places value on things that cannot pass away. The evil eye looks for the things of this age, the world system, where Satan is god. What are your real priorities? Are they about passing pleasures and possessions of this life? You are of thinking of goodness in ABC's and 1, 2,3s. It is not as simple as that when it comes to what the Lord seeks.

Religion is not needed to be a good person. And I am sure that god will not condemn good people (if he exists). People want to feel good about themselves by putting others down. Religious people take a lot of pleasure in dooming others to hell.

Who is good? What or who determines the definition of Good?

Does one have to be "good" all the time? What if they are bad sometimes? Then they aren't then good are they now?

"All sin and fall short of the glory of God." Jesus said when one hates they are committing murder in their heart. If you have ever stolen, even a pen what does that make you? Jesus said if you have lusted after another women/man without marriage you have committed adultery.
I have done all of these things. I am a murdering, adulterous thief. How 'bout you?

With God all things are possible.
"I am the way the truth and the life." There is salvation in no other name but Jesus of Nazareth.

Because being a good person simply isn't enough--I'm sorry. And yes, He would. In condemning certain people to Hell, He is simply giving them what they've always wanted--a complete and total lack of His involvement in their existence--He will simply forget them. Can you imagine what it must be like to realize that even God has forgotten you? And if you didn't bother to acknowledge his existence, why should he acknowledge yours (or reward your lack of faith)?

Religion is not just about being nice or a good person. It's about dedicating yourself to a path of enlightenment.

Plenty of people are sweet or good hearted but are no more enlightened than someone who is mean and cruel.

It's not just a matter of disbelieving in Him. We disbelieve because we want to be free of Him. Free of anyone who watches us and judges us. He wants us to seek Him but if we reject Him, He will allow it. Eventually He will say, thy will be done.

No one can escape religion because humans are inherently religious. Humans are created religious beings. All have religions.

Even atheists are religious. They follow their own sacred books written by atheistic prophets and apologists.
