How many different tax forms are there in the US? I know there is a 1040, 1040EZ, 1040a, b and c, w-2. but how many more US tax forms are out there?

I'm a tax professional using professional software. Federal forms only, including income estate, excise and other tax returns, plus miscellaneous other information returns (W-2, K-1) and reporting forms that are a part of the tax return included on my software exceed 900!

That's right 900!! For ONE tax year!!

This is far more than you will find on IRS.gov.

Hi, The 1040 is the form you fill out & furnish for tax purposes. Total tax paid is the federal tax amount that was withheld from your income & is on your W-2 from your employer. If you paid any estimated federal tax or had tax withheld on interest from an account that gets applied as tax paid.

Probably over 100. Many of them are used for special purposes only in fairly unusual circumstances, and some are very commonly used.

Hundreds. Most people do not need them. They are for special circumstances.
