I don't think it is bad to feed them wet food. Dry food cleans their teeth. I give my cattle dog, dry food in the mornings, and a couple of chicken wings for him to chew on during the day, and at night, I mix one cup of dry food with half a tin of wet food. I also find the combination makes him eat it slower as he is chewing, instead of gulping it down. Most wet dog foods these days have all the nutrients and additives that a healthy dog requires.
I would check with your vet - if you are concerned, as they can point you in the right direction.

Your cats will be less likely to *not* get fat on a canned food diet. The only dry served in my house is grainless (or nearly so) for the dry food junkies that I've yet to wean off the dry entirely. I'm slowly winning .... The canned here is fed twice a day, sometimes 3 times depending on how starved everyone is. Each cat needs about a 6 ounce can per day. Some will need more, some will need less. You need to sort of judge if you're feeding them the righ amount by trial and error, and how quickly they clean their plates. If they scarf it down, lick the dish, and look for more, add more. If they barely finish and walk away, then give less. Keep an eye on their weights, and if it's consistent and they seem to be happy with what you're giving them, then you've got it right. I have one smallish cat that can eat a tremendous amount of food (a rescue Devon Rex with a high metabolism) and he's the right weight. My DSH eats less, but is much bigger. There isn't a right answer, just a guideline, with adjustments made for each individual cat. While Wellness Core's a great food, your cats are going to decide what they like and don't like. And it may vary from cat to cat, too. I rotate among several premium brands, that way everyone gets their favorite, and some variety (which is good in case the store's out of your brand and you can't get it). Chicken is generally popular, and easily digested, so that's a good bet. You can also try the regular Wellness (nearly grain free), Natural Balance, Merrick (they have a regular and a grain free), Solid Gold, Innova - there are lots of premium healthy brands out there. Just as a note - my cats have the regular Wellness chicken as their main food. They aren't terribly fond of the Wellness Core chicken, yet gobble up the Merrick BG chicken, which is essentially the same thing. Each cat is different, as I said.

It is not bad to feed wet food to your dog...actually a good quality canned food such as Canidae is full of nutrition. It has more meat protein and less carbs then dry.
It is a very good idea to feed a combination of wet & dry.

I feed Canidae or Wellness sry and Wellness, Canidae or Merrick canned to all of my dogs.
I feed twice daily (feeding twice daily is far better for a dogs digestion)

Oh and dry food doesn't "clean" teeth or prevent tooth issues nor does feeding canned food cause tooth problems.

I would have to say dry food because, people say wet food helps give the dog extra water but your dog won't need extra water if you gave it water when the bowl was dry. Drinking too much water can make your dog bigger and probably lazier. Dry food gives lots of nutrients and just give your dog a big bowl of water every day and your dog won't need the extra water it gets from wet food.

I have fed all of my dogs a mixture-the dry food is good for their teeth-but the wet food is good to get extra water in them.

When it comes to teeth dry dog is so much better for them. It helps clean their teeth. I have heard that wet food has more fat in it that can clog the pets arteries over a period of time.

Dry food accually helps to get tartar of their teeth, and wet food helps get extra water in them. So, if u are feeding both, that's even better. :)

I feed a dry as a base and sometimes some canned, sometimes some frozen things, like Salmon, and sometimes fresh. I think a resonable variety is good.
