Do female and male cats go into heat about the same age?

Never heard of male cats going into heat but you know what I mean. :P

Female cats can become sexually mature at four months old. Males become sexually mature much later. Males should not be neutered before six months of age. Early neutering can cause a tendency toward UITs and Kidney infections, so they need their hormones to help their bodies mature a bit.

Anywhere from five to 12 months is the age range a cat can have her first heat. It will be different with each cat. The average of 6 - 8 months of age is often given, but an individual can may be older or younger than this. It is highly advised to spay her prior to a first heat.

Male cats don`t go in heat.
The males are always ready for a female in heat though.

Male cats do not go into heat. They reach sexual maturity about the same age as the girls or sometimes a little later.
