i was just given a winchester model 1912 20 guage. I was able to find out it was made in 1913. The gun is in great condition considering how old it is. Does anyone know how much this is worth. I dont want to sell it, I plan on handing it down to my son.

The Winchester 1912 was first introduced in 1912 in 20 ga. only. Manufactured in 2 1/2' chambers only until 1927. This means that unless your shotgun has had the chambers reamed to 2 3/4" you will not be able to use it with standard shells. Using it with longer 2 3/4" shells will cause excessive pressure as the crimp will be forced into the forcing cone and impend (get in the way) of the shot charge causing it to blow the crimped end off the shot shell case. The price of your shotgun with it figured at 70 to 80% would be $500 or more depending on whether it is still in unaltered condition and has no damage to it. I would have a gunsmith check the chamber to see if it was altered to 2 3/4" and safeties work and there are no bludges or bad spots in the barrel or internal works.

How about a Model number ?..That would be a great start in figuring out which firearm you have and help in putting a value on it. Based on condition, how much original finish is left on it? 60-80-90% ?
