Of course not. They are different species, and therefore incapable of breeding. They would probably fight and kill each other if you put them together since Syrian hamsters are solitary.

Although both are rodents, they are of different species. A hamster is a Mesocricetus auratus. And a rat is a Rattus norvegicus. In the lab they tried to breed a rat with a mouse ..Mus musculus.. and that attempt failed. Even under lab conditions it was not possible. I believe they have tried in the past, so it's no use for you to try. And more than likely, your animals would be killed or injured. It was an interesting question anyway and one that was asked recently by another person. Hope that clears things up for you...check out the links below...

No, Tigers and lions won't be able to breed. they do no longer do it interior the wild, it befell as a results of fact Scientists began screwing around with DNA and cloning and what no longer. Rats and hamsters could in no way meet interior the wild, or in captivity i desire as a results of fact it can be a short lived hamster and a blood yearning rat afterwards. yet no, they'd't breed, they at the instant are not the comparable species and DNA is far too diverse.

You cannot naturally breed them.

As for a liger, Im fairly certain that was genetically created, not just made through natural means, and a tiger and a lion are much more closely related than a rat and hamster, in the rodent world, it would be like mixing a kangaroo mouse with a common garden mouse.
And a mule is actually a kind of freak and is always infertile.

No. You will have a rodent war on your hands.
Ligers and Mules are always infertile and this is why they aren't a real species. To be a species you have to be able to interbreed and product fertile offspring.
As for rats and hamsters, don't attempt it. They will fight to the death and interbreeding between species should only be done by zoologists or geneticists. Basically people who have a clue as to what they are doing. But I don't think they'd be this stupid try attempt what you're suggesting.

You may be able to breed them artificially, but I doubt it. Put them in the same cage and the rat will view the hamster as a tasty snack.

WHY?! Are you planning on keeping all the babies? Going to use them as bait or lab experiments?

Don't. Find something to do with your time.
