Why is it that the going view on islam is that its evil and muslims are violent wicked people.Yes there are muslims doing some pretty mesed up things but its only a few.Do the people of america even realize that the true muslims are fighting a war agaisnt these radical muslims that are commiting all these crimes. If everyone else saw things the way that alot of ameicans do then we'd think that all irish people are terorist, germans are genocidal, white americans are completely ignorant and obssesed with war and that christians think its okay to kill or enslave any that doesnt convert to their beliefs.

against all gods what i said was if everyone else looked at things the way that alot of americans do then they might come to that conclusion. If people in china never met a white american and the only image they have of them is from lets say Bush they might think all white americans are like him.

Unfortunately that is the message being promoted on a daily basis by our government and most news media - that Muslims are evil terrorists.

Far too many just swallow that propaganda.

I don't think that we all have these views. Before 911 I never new a thing about Islam. Never had an opinion, one way or the other because I knew nothing. Since then I've learned a lot, through research. Still a lot that I don't understand or don't agree with. I do realize that some most Muslims are dong all these violent acts in the name of Islam.I think that this is the problem. In looking back on the history of Islam there is a lot of violence. But then do some research on the Crusades, You'll find the same thing. I've seen a lot of programs on Islam other than the radical view. So, I think you are wrong in your view of the opinions and views of Americans in respect to Islam. There are two reasons for some people's views, not all. One and foremost is 911. The other is lack of knowledge.
By the way, in my opinion, by the way you worded your post, you yourself sound rather radical. Had you posted in a civil manor and just a question it would have sounded better. You had to get all defensive about it. See, this is why some people feel like they do. Can't you see that you are defeating your own cause???

White Americans are ignorant? I am a white American. I am not ignorant. Try to be more distinctive on your generalizations please.
Islam is like any other religion, there are the good ones AND the bad ones. But you have to admit that radical Islam is a current problem, amongst many.

Hey, I here you. It is a different world out there if you are not from America. Their perception of us is most definitely warped. Maybe not! I can only speak for myself.
Thanks for the added details.

I think the whole part about not eating pork is the biggie.

Then there's the fasting and the open praying facing the east thing. Just more dogma than in Roman Catholiscism to be truthful.

Then we all would have to do a Hajj. Man, I was in Kuwait in 1990-91, and I have no desire to go back over there to the middle east again.

All that sanctimony and hard work to learn all kinds of ridiculous traditions and rituals, and for what?

So many religions have performed so many atrocities in the name of a god.... christian, muslims, yada, yada... however, even though there are peaceful muslims and violent christians, I have yet to find anyone who can show where jesus in the christian bible ever told his followers to spread his word even to the point of a sword. Mohammad did.

So I guess everyone can interpret that one the way you want to. I do not adhere to either, but found the information to be interesting.

My take on the term truth... truth and fact are not necessarily synonymous.

The Muslims are justifiably earning their own reputations. And it is more than just a "few" as you imply. Why don't you bring yourself up to date on current events around the world before you suggest others learn anything. Apparently you do not know of the atrocities and terrorism occurring throughout Asia and the Middle East.

why won't muslims learn the truth about Islam? There is much truth behind the american thoughts on the religion. Suppression of half the population by the other half under orders of a select few is NEVER a good thing

Why should they? Do muslim countries try to learn the truth about other religions or cultures? I don't think so.

I'm not American, nor do I live there, but I don't see why they should have any interest in any culture other than their own.

not only do they not want to (as it might make them question their faith), but they (majority) already believe that their religion is the right and superior one.

besides, they're already having a hard time accepting that there are other religions other than theirs in the states.

bush is ignorant and an idiot. NO ONE should listen to a word he has to say.

and who said they view africa that way? is this something you're making up to help to try and prove your point?
