Are religious groups so afraid of a movie, they have to report THREE questions about it, in order to get it deleted?
Shall we try for four? I can go forever with this to resolve it, how about you?
I don't understand why people keep reporting my questions about The Golden Compass! Do you?
Is it because it is written by an atheist? Is it because they feel it is an insult to god?
Piers Anthony wrote a book about god being apathetic, and having to be replaced. Was there contovercy there? Why are people so threatened by a book, written by a man who, to his way of thinking, in the story from his imagination, good and evil,(most stories have that) in this case the god in the story is evil, and need to be stopped.
Since it is just a MOVIE, and NOT real, what is the big problem.
I thought this mentality went out with book burning.
What is going on??
I am not trying to offend anyone, I just want to know why this is happening, Don't report for spiteful reasons.

Even things like books and movies that are pure fiction get trampled on by certain Christians, especially if it's written by a non-Christian. Many (not all) Christians have a problem with reality because they actually believe that a book or a movie can undermine their Christian foundations or cause other people to believe in a non-Christian way. Sounds to me like they're insecure in their beliefs, and maybe a bit paranoid.

I personally intend to see the Golden Compass. Looks like it might be pretty good.

Here's what I've heard about the movie/book. Mind, this is only what I've HEARD, so take this with whatever grain of salt you feel appropriate....

I heard the book was written by an athiest who really had a problem with the Chronicles of Narnia, and their Christian theme.
He wrote Compass as an alternative. At the end of the story, a child kills God.

I got this information in an email from a friend. The email included the link below.

What was the name of the Piers Anthony book you're referring to?

Apparently, they are scared that their faith may not be as strong as they want it to be, and are afraid to put it to the test. I don't know why they think the rest of us have to be "protected" too. I think those are the people who would be perfectly comfortable in a totalitarian society.

i've met -many- believers that were afraid of anyone or anything who challenged their religion and faith for fear that they might sway and start to see truth in what others were saying, thus upsetting their god and him sending them to hell.

most people are closed-minded and do not want to hear anything other than what they've been taught. so to ensure they stick to their religion and beliefs, they shut down and block out anything they don't agree or are not comfortable with.

Fear of serious opposition.
As reality comes more into our lives and challenges religious belief in myths, the religious will resort to any tactics to silence the opposition.
