many gyms try to sell you the most expensive membership they can. Most do not have set fees. You can almost always negotiate with their fees. I go to LA Fitness and when I joined they tried to charge me $50+ a month...I told them no way! I knew people who had better deals at LA and at other gyms. So i was able to get them down to $34 a month plus tax.

There are different gyms all over the place. I would need to know your location or gyms around you to suggest one.

The cheap ones that are about 20 dollars per month will make you sign a 2 year contract and will be packed with people all the time. Then there are ones like Golds Gym where you can pay monthly for like 45$ per month without a contract (at least thats what it used to be) and wont be as crowded. Never sign up if you have to sign a contract with a gym because 90% of people quit after the first month but still have to pay the remaining 460 dollars worth of months before they are out of their contract. So in essence, you are paying 480 dollars to go to the gym for one month.

Its been a few years since i paid for a gym membership, but you can roughly expect to pay those prices unless you live in an expensive city, then the skys the limit for prices.

The one I go to costs £275 for the entire year up front single payment. It's more expensive if you pay monthly. i go 4 or 5 times a week so I do use my membership.
The best ones....it will depend what you want from your membership.

i have a membership at bally total fitness. they require you to put a down payment of your choice and decides your monthly payments.

If i put $150 down my monthly payments would have been $30

I only put $50 down and my payments are $40 a month.

no matter what you put down the price is the same at the end.
