Yes most definitely. First look at Peter's denial of know Jesus, when he was on His way to the cross. And then look at the miracles he performed after Jesus Ascended into heaven. People were even healed where Peter's shadow fell on them

The rest of the Apostles, except for John fled at the Crucifixion too. John was the only one at the cross with Mary Jesus mother and Mary Magdalene. Look at Thomas, who doubted.

I have seen many Christians backslide and come back and become stronger.

The only two time you can loose your salvation is:-
1) If you curse the Holy Spirit
2) If you walk away, and openly deny Jesus was the Christ.

That is what Paul was taking about when he said it is almost impossible to restore those who have once known the truth, and then walk away and deny Jesus as the Christ. My concordance is in storage so look up yours if you can.

Yes the person can, I've often heard that some religions think they can block a persons salvation by not having anything to do with them or to excommunicate them from a church. Jesus said believe in me and you will be saved, where does Jesus ever mention a certain religion as the only true religion by the names of today.

Yes.
At what point is the term 'back slidding' to be used?
After one mistake? After a prideful conscious sin? Or after a lifetime of rebellion?

Who are we to deny the power of God's grace and forgiveness?

Of course, Jesus did not come to redeem perfect people, but to redeem sinners. 2 peter 3:9 says God deos not desire any to be destroyed but all to attain to repentance

Remember the prodical son that returned home? The father saw him coming from afar, ran to meet him, threw his arms around him, kissed him then had a big party to welcome him home.
The son was the backslider........God is the father :)
