"Pre-med" isn't something you enter in the US. It's nothing more than what you intend to do. You still have to get a bachelor's degree in something else, take your pre-requisite science courses, and apply to medical schools.
I can't advise you to go into medicine or not to do so. That's your decision. If you do decide to go into it, be prepared for a lot of hard work for a long time.
Talk to an academic adviser at your current school for information that pertains to your particular situation.

Assume you don't want to become a medicine (pills,syrups,etcc....). You may want to become a doctor of medicine.
If you care enough about others to the point you would make sacrifices in order to heal or prevent illness. Often with very poor remuneration and recognition.
To put your patients before anything else including yourself.
Plus long years of studying (including weekends your friends will party without you); long days and nights with little sleep.
Plus a life of everyday continued learning ...and much more.
And if once you realize all you had to study and sacrifice to get to the point of telling someone :" take an aspirin for this" and you are mocked and ridiculed (I paid this jerk doctor for this??). And you can offer a kind smile in return.
Do it!

I disagree with the above advice, being a suppository is a hell of a fine way to be a medicine.
Just remember it doesn't matter what medicine you are as long as you are the best medicine you can be.
My dad was a medicine for 30 years until he got caught in the rain and his gel caplet melted away.

If you have an awesome memory, common sense, a strong nose, a strong stomach, don't mind cutting up all kinds of animals and people, start off in zoology or biology in college and see how you do.

All I can say is, if you do become a medicine, don't become a suppository.
