Assalaam Alaykum

How does one make up their missed Salaah, i.e. when they were ignorant before and never prayed, however Alhamdulillah they got guided and wish to make up for the past.

How does one go about calculating it? Aslo do you just pray the Fardh? Or all?

i've been searching for that my sister, because there was time that i didnt pray
here's what i found:
1]if u are not regular in ur salah,i.e..u pray a couple then u miss one like u'r on and off,u gotta make up for that salah,as u can pray two zohur, two aser..etc. till u complete ur missed salah.

2]if was completely away from salah,u didn't pray at all.the scholars opinion goes for that as if u were away from Islam this time, and getting back to salah and repented to Allah, inshallah u'll be forgiven and u can start praying regularly,as the repent clear what's before just like new embracing into Islam, but u gotta make ur repent true and face Allah and intend to not cut the salah again.
this opinion my sister i heard it from a trusted scholar who's the head master of shari'a college in Saudi Arabia, sorry i can't recall his name now..
and it was a relief for me...
supporting that opinion is that who leave salah is considered kaffer in some opinions according to the prophet's hadith that's the difference between us and them(non-muslims) is the salah...
so by returning to salah as if u are a new born muslim,i.e. you won't be inshallah asked for the previous deeds or missed salah...
but of course it's recommended that u keep up with sunna prayers, may Allah forgive us all...

Different scholars believe different things, for example, the Hanafi madhhab will tell you that you must make up all the fardh salah that you missed, even if you missed 40 years worth of salah.
I've heard from many, many scholars though, that if you had a sincere repentance, and you are now praying regularly, and on time, then Allah will have forgiven what mistakes you did in the past. But you must pray each salah on time, and try your absolute best not to miss any, and insha-Allah your tawbah will be accepted.

if one cannot remember the exact duration/ time of missed prays then take a rough idea, and concentrate on intention(neeat) like this " i intend to offer my last missed pray of Fajar(Zhur, Asr whatsoever). When you will finish the pray it will be completed and next missed Fajr pray will become last missed pray of Fajr. An easy way of offering missed pray is to offer missed pray with each salat. Only Fardh are being offered in missed prays except in Isha pray where Witar are also necessary.

One of teachers this question he said this depends on two things; 1. Did you know how to pray? 2. Did you know that you had to do it in other words that it was fard or obligatory.

If this answer to both of these questions is yes then you have to make them up, every single missed prayer. Only the fard; fajr, zhur, asr, magrib and Isha.

If you can only answer to one of these is yes then you only have to make them up from the time that you knew. For example you find out when you were 20 and you didn't know to pray when you find out how to pray then both come into play and you make up from that point.

You start from the time you became mature which is normally 15 years of age or the time of puberty.

Salaam Alaykum,
1, attend Jummah prayer at the mosque.
2. learn about wudu and ghusl
3. ask questions and get reference materials on how to offer as Salat. Picture books or DVD..manys Islamic sites have them. Salat is not easy to a newcomer.
4. after Wudu announce your Niyyat or intention of what and how many rakats and for what Fajr,Zuhr,Asr Maghrib, or Isha
you intend to pray. I still use a guidebook..if you think you messed up you can do Sajdatus Sahw it it sounds complicated but it's easy.
5. Since we are human beings we are not above mistakes and errors. We can make up for it by making two extra sujud
prostration on prayer mat saying Allahu Akbar with your forehead nose palms of both hands touching the floor..recite Subahana Rabbial A la.. 3 times This is done at the last rak'ah of salah. What you have to do then is recite Tashahhud and then turn your face to the right say Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullah and make two extra sujud recite the tasbih mentioned before Suhana Rabbial A'la ..3 times As Salah and then recite Tashahhud again with As Salah alan Nabiyy Duarud or Darud and du'a. Then turn your face to the right and then to the left and say Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullah.
Ok thats not easy if by now you don't know all the positions and prostrations of Salah..it takes practice for me learning Tashahhud and As Salah alan nabiyy (Darud) blessings for the Prophet was hard at first but after constant prostrations and recitations it got easier and easier until I felt confident in performing it alone.
If you are proficient in the performance of As Salah and you missed a cycle..I agree with the brother that posted you can make it up by performance of Nafl..extra or voluntary prayer.
You can even do more than the five daily salah if you want to
make Nafl..For example after Isha and before Fajr...
If you are making up missed Fard or compolsury salah in your Nafl make up all missed rakats and make Niyyat or intention.
Practice,Practice, Practice and if you are not sure don't be afraid to ask for help and teaching. No one will ever not be willing to help. There are no stupid questions no matter how uncomfortable you may feel asking.

Ask a scholar or an Imam at your local mosque. I wouldn't advise you on this one, because I'm not a scholar. Wouldn't you want to get a creditable answer to such a significant question? I would. Opinions are opinion but facts are facts, and one has to carefully study to know facts. Insha Allah will accept your missed prayers. Peace and Salaam.

Waalaikumussalam warahmatullahi taala wabarakatuh,

If I'm not mistaken, there's a hadith that told us that, our Prophet Muhammad SAW pray to Allah SWT to forgive his followers as if they missed solah unintentionally; sickness, forgotten & etc.

But, there's also a hadith told us that, one of the most sinfull act is not perform solah (fardhu only) with no regrets. So, as Muslims we shall try our best to preserve our solah especially the fardhu ones and try to add some sunnat solah.

One of the best way for Muslims to ask for forgiveness is through "Taubah Nasuha" whereby you perform a "Solah Sunnat Taubah" with "Zikr Taubah" and also pray as ask for forgiveness with strong determination that you'll never repeat your mistakes again. Insya Allah, the Most Gracious & the Most Merciful Allah SWT will grant you forgiveness.

May Allah Taal bless U in all ur ways, Amien...

I even have an analogous difficulty. In my college, it is so finished and crowded, there are no empty lecture rooms or keep rooms. additionally the lavatories which you will do wudu in are fairly filthy! it particularly is no longer honest.
