To learn, the acoustic, I've told many a student that but of course most don't listen and they get electric and then realize that electric doesn't sound well until you learn how to play it....so I always recommend acoustic....you won't keep anyone up at night when your practicing !!!!!!!! Some have actually gone later on and got the acoustic, one of them was a member of my own family, she said that she wished that she had listened to me in the first place !!!!!!!!!!!

Start on acoustic. Cheaper and less stuff to buy. Go to your local music shop, with a knowledgeable friend if poss. ans see what's around in your price range. Get friend to check a few out. If no friend, ask assistant. You will need guitar, bag, tuner and book of chords. Tune guitar, pick 3 chords ( A D E ) .Start iwth A Learn and practise. Move on to D. Learn then practise changing between them. Repeat with E. There are stacks of songs U can play - Johnny. B. Goode, Hound Dog, Blue Suede Shoes, etc. Hope this helps.

Acoustic. It's a little harder to play until you build up callouses, but well worth it in developing technique. Learn a few classic rock songs and you'll be a hit at parties!
