Umm, the bible is the word of god, and i read it and still feel great avout my self. Men were just stronger back then, and i think that women actually liked it that way. I mean, i don't want to have to be as strong as a guy, and im not so im not going 2 try. But im smarter than most guys, but these real feminists are the ones who don't have men. But i don't find the bible sexist at all if you comprehend it the way it was ment to be comprehended, and im not mindless, thank you very much. If you ask me, some girls out there need the bible. LIke Britney Spears and Paris Hilton, who i love, but need to clean up there act alittle. But im a female believer, and life is great for me, and im not in any kind of colt or anything, i can live my life how ever i want, i just want to live a holy one.

I don't think the Bible is sexist or promotes sexism.
It just so happens that the culture in which the Bible was written was patriarchal.
On the matter of salvation from guilt and sin, the gospel of Jesus is clearly egalitarian: no male or female (Galatians 3:28).

I don't believe the bible is sexist. It says to treat her as a delicate vessel the femine one. Tells husbands it is their responsibility to support their wives both physically and emotionally. Not to be depriveing each other of sex.
Women are not told to go to work and support their husbands.
It says if a man doesn't support his wife he is worst than a man without faith. Nothing like that is said to women.
Men work in coal mines under inhuman conditions or on rail roads or pounding steel in the top of a sky scraper building.
When a war is called women are not expected to go fight and suffer and possiblely die.
I remember my husband leaving for work to drive a truck and it was raining and cold and he spent long hours on the road.
Befor he walked out he brought in wood for the fire place to be sure I was warm while he was gone.
He is a good christian man who treats me very special, now he has a garden because he knows I like fresh vegetables.
I am glad I am a women and treated so well.
I feel sorry for men, they are the ones who have it so rough.
More is expected of them and they are just people.
Women out live men so we must have it a lot better than they do. I hate to think of that because I would hate to be without him in my life.

You are so very wrong!! Jesus liberated all woman!!! Look at all other religions. All other religion's make woman second class. But not the Christian religion. America is the best example. The New testament of Jesus Christ has made things better for alot of people ..You should get saved and then read it for yourself, then maybe you might be able to understand things instead of being so dumb!!

Actually, the more I dig into the Bible, the more I find that it's NOT sexist. CHURCHES are sexist. Their doctrine is sexist. They take one verse out of context, and build all their teachings around it.
There are many examples of powerful, godly, righteous women in the Bible. Deborah, Esther, Ruth, Phoebe, Mary, Mary Magdalene, Priscilla, Tryphena, Tryphosa, Naomi, Persis...the list goes on and on.
And let's not forget Galatians 3:28
There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
I am not worth more or less than any man. And I refuse to be subject to any man, except for my husband, who is also subject to me. He may not be a Christian, but we BOTH at least follow THAT part of the Bible.
But I suppose this isn't the answer you wanted to hear. I suppose you wanted to hear something like this:
I KNOW. How can they stand it? The Bible is xenophobic, homophobic, and sexist, and was written by a bunch of Bronze Age goat herders.
That about cover it?

Obviously you haven't read the whole book. If you ever read the words of Jesus, Himself you would see that He treated all women with courtesy, respect and kindness. I don't like sexism; its just as bad as racism. But, I love and respect God; He treats me like a princess. "God created them, male and female he created them!"(book of Genesis) God isn't sexist! God is a phenomenal creator and everything he makes is a work of art; that includes me!
By the way, who is "most". You speak in generalities and you don't speak for Christians, male or female.

It's a reflection of the times in which the bible was written. Maybe in a thousand years people will read our books and wonder why we treated dolphins like animals when they're really smarter than us. (or something)
Also: it's not all bad, the longest and most philosophical conversation Between Jesus and another person in the Bible is with a woman.

I know that not all god folk treat women this way.
It's the fundamentalist types that take the bible literally that are the main culprits.
I pity the kids that are bought in this sort of household. They grow up seeing their Mum treated like she is a second class citizen. The boys when they grow up they think it's normal to treat women this way. The girls know no better and think it's normal as well.
It's a wicked cycle that I can't see any end to.

All these things have been discussed before.
1 It is not sexist, find those discussions resolved somewhere else.
One side says it is, one side says it isn't.
The bible clarifies gender roles.
The wife submits to a man's lead,
The husband submits to a woman's needs.
LOVE YOUR WIFE AS CHRIST LOVED THE CHURCH AND DIED FOR THE CHURCH.
LOVE ENOUGH TO DIE FOR.
What is your view of love? I FEEL UNCOFTABLE So IM GONNA GO DIVORCE YOU.. THATS A PIECE OF S@4^@4^@4,
Now stop wasting time. God loves everyone and demands men to LOVE WOMEN, how is that f@#%##$ sexist to Love a woman like Christ did? Did Jesus not give his life for the church and lived his life to fill the need of the church?
HOW THE F@3%2 is that SEXIST?
Point made.
Stop watching porn. What??? STOP WATCHING PORN?
Well, you claim to love Women and act like you respect them, STOP WATCHING PORN.
FIGHT PORN.
Well? Unless you support objectifying women as a tool for lust rather than people just like you and me and that we love them as equals?
Is a Driver greater than a navigator? Does the driver listen and obey the navigator? Does that mean the driver is being discriminated against? Or simply they have different roles?
And that God made them Specialized in specific areas?
Ever notice that women are more capable of being sensitive to peoples needs and being gentle and polite?
Ever notice that men are more capable of being agressive and speaking their mind without a care if it sounds rude or not?
That is a generalization but you get the idea, one gender is built for a specific role, not because they are weak but because they are MORE NEEDED SOMEWHERE ELSE.
Anyway this is another way to appease guilt over greed.
Stop wasting time with these worthless attacks and do something with your life.
If you really wanna respect women, go ahead and support xxx church to fight pornography.
or go out in the streets and help those single homeless moms trying to care for their kids.
STOP BEING A HYPOCRITE.
If you really want something respected, START WITH YOURSELF.
And stop watching porn.
If you are a woman, then there you go... Start promoting against pornography and don't entertain men who view that as something thats okay. Lust is a sin, so start doing something against it.
Anyway there is more pressing needs in the world than wasting time in arguements.
There are people dying in africa, what are you doing with your MONEY?
Do you do a one time gift? or do you dedicate your finances to ALWAYS donate a percentage of your income???????
Do something worth doing, stop wasting your life.
Forgive others if you want to be forgiven by God, no religion necessary no clubs to join, no memberships to sign no money to be donated to a church building project. no indulgence necessary for a priest.
Love others and help others, no point system, you dont earn your way. Just do what you want done in the world.
If theres a problem. BE PART OF THE SOLUTION.
Oh and fight the media, yes media.
I am talking about these ads that promote " Look this way" they are hurting the younger women on this country making them feel that they are not skinny enough and they are about to F43@4^@4^% DIE if they skip another meal.
Do you really care about them? DO SOMETHING WHERE YOU ARE> FIGHT THIS PIECE OF C@4^@4 S@4@34 F@4^@4^ american propaganda against girls having a body that isnt thinner than a F2!4%@4 Toothpick.
Do you really love Women?
Then Do That!

I dont think the Bible is sexist at all. That's my own opinion. I know a lot of women have a problem with the verse that goes something to the effect of "women obey your husbands" but if they actually read the whole part they would realize all it's saying is that a woman should be respectful of her husband AND that the husband should be respectful of his wife- 50/50 equal fair and square.
Maybe there is a part you're referring to that may change my mind.
