It is true that the devil is like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour.

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
I Peter 5:8
King James Version

But it is not true that the devil can devour as many as he could. The devil cannot devour the believers.

We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.
I John 5:18
King James Version

You, see the wicked one or the devil cannot even touch the servants of God.

Poor devil. Hahahahaha.

It does not mean literally that, but that he will snatch you from obtaining the goal of everlasting life and from the worship of the true GOD.
Satan is the god of this world and if people say; he does not exist ,he got you all ready. The devil tempted Jesus 3 times at least and he was able to resist the temptation and so can we with the help of the True GOD and by means of His son Jesus Christ.
The ridicule-rs and those without faith will find out when Judgment day comes.
Don't wait repent and turn away from bad and do good and you will receive blessings instead of coursing's.

He devours many through false cults, materalism, child pornography, rapes, murders, and the list goes on and on. He has distorted God's truth since the Garden of Eden, and continues to do so today. He knows what his end is, he just doesn't know when it will be, so he's working harder than ever to deceive people. He will not be the victor when all is said and done, because Jesus Christ will return as KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS one day and cast Him alive into the lake of fire! God bless you!!!

Satan was defeated at the cross, but he continues to try to lead people away from the truth of the gospel of christ. He is behind every false cult that is existing today.
The specific Christian definition of a cult is a religious group that denies one or more of the fundamentals of Biblical truth. Or, in more simple terms, a cult is a group that teaches something that will cause a person to not be saved if they believe it. In distinction from a religion, a cult is a group that claims to be Christian, yet denies an essential truth of Biblical Christianity.

The two most common teachings of cults are that Jesus was not God and that salvation is not by faith alone. A denial of the deity of Christ results in Jesus’ death not being a sufficient payment for our sins. A denial of salvation by faith alone results in salvation being achieved by our own works – something the Bible vehemently and consistently denies.

It means he is looking for people who are being tempted by sin or who are weak. It means to be on guard. No the devil is not winning, but many people are being devoured by the devil. They are not living their lives for God, they are sinning, etc..

Jesus did not say it; it was Peter who said it.

Peter said this in the context of Christian suffering due to persecution. Many Christians in Muslim and Communist countries are suffering for their faith.

No, the devil is not winning. Jesus said, "... the gates of hell cannot prevail against the church" (Matthew 16:18).

he is prowling around, but he isn't winning...he has already lost the war!!! but what you ask above refers to mainly christians not those who aren't saved. he is always looking for God's people who stray away from the group and are vulnerable to attack. just like lions in the wild...they look for the stragglers, the weak, and the newborns. i see this all the time in the church. those who are not going to heaven aren't attacked. he just tries to keep those people deceived.
Jesus Christ is God, so no...the devil is not winning. on the contrary...
Revelation 12:7-9 "And there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven. The great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him."
Revelation 12:12 "Therefore rejoice, you heavens and you who dwell in them! But woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has gone down to you! He is filled with fury,
because he knows that his time is short."

so you see, Satan is not trying to win anymore. only to take as many people with him to hell as he can. him and all his evil angels. and it is not hard to see their influence in the world.

KAIT: is the Bible wrong for this?...
James 2:14-26 What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. But someone will say, "You have faith; I have deeds." Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do. You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons b elieve that—and shudder. You foolish man, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is useless? Was not our ancestor Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did. And the scripture was fulfilled that says, "Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness," and he was called God's friend. You see that a person is justified by what he does and not by faith alone.
In the same way, was not even Rahab the prostitute considered righteous for what she did when she gave lodging to the spies and sent them off in a different direction? As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.

so if this is wrong doctrine do you believe that the Bible is the inerrant Word of God? the true plan of salvation within scripture... Hear the word, Believe the message, Repent of your sinful life, Confess Jesus is Lord, and be baptized for the forgiveness of sins. all of this is uselees without faith to be sure. but if you claim to have faith and yet deny any of these biblical teachings...then what?

You can see it in the ways that things are happening. People refuses to believe in him. The way that they are being devoured is the that evil is presented of being good and the way that goods is shown as being evil. Look at Communist dictators they go out and kill those that opposes them and people turn their faces away as if to not notice. (Hugo Chavez is one.)

I see the devil working in this way through religion. I do not think that the devil is winning because there are still too many good people in this world who will put the devil's religious fundamentalists in their place.
