Luke 14:23 - "And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled." We are to be actively looking for people to witness the Gospel of Jesus Christ to. We are to follow His example of reaching out to those who are hurting in body and spirit. By being "lights" in their darkened world, many will see His Light shining in us and be drawn to Him. God bless you!!!

Luke 14:3 And the lord said to the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges and compel them to come in, so that my house may be filled. According to Strongs, compel means "to necessiate; compel; constrain In other words, show them the necessity

This is a false statement. They did not have highways & byways back then. They were not even invented till the late 1800's These are all things man built to use automobiles on. & before automobiles was the rail roads.

The first rule of understanding the Bible or any ancient text is answering what it meant to the first reader. What was a "highway and byway" in the mind of those who heard him say this or those who first read the text after it had been written down. Its obvious he is not talking about Interstate 70 or something like that. Once you get in the mind of the first hearer/reader, then you can take the principle and apply it to your situation.

Salam

There are those who call and need to be called that was a promise from the days of Abraham A.s. Everything after him was a plan set forth by The Lord and nothing is going to stop that plan.

i dont think there where highways or byways around back in that era ...just another classic example of how the continous alteration of the bible is producing mass mistranslations in order to make it seem relavent and hold ground in this era

The best way is by example in my opinion. If your life reflects the qualities of Christ, others may be attracted to him as a result.

There is only one way to witness. It is not by inviting people to your church. It is not by inviting them to a gospel fest. The invitation is to Christ, and Christ as the son of God, born of a virgin, lived a life without sin, was crucified dead and buried. The third day he rose from the dead and sits on the right hand of God making intercession for us all. That is the witness. The rest is being able to answer the questions that come from that witness. Then if they accept your witness, tell them to repent and be baptized. Get a bible, read, read, read, and then become a doer of what you have read.
