I used to work at a restaurant where i had to cut onions almost daily. Forget the goggles... just chew gum while you're chopping. -- it'll keep you from crying. Just don't touch your eyes and wash your hands with soap and hot water after!

What kind of goggles?
Not all onions cause your eyes to water and there are ways to deal with those that do,but I won't swear that they work.
You can set up a fan to blow the onion fumes away from you;hold the onion under running water while you prepare the onion;let someone else do it;suffer.

Yes, it will certainly help.
I've answered similar Questions on here, and I've mentioned that sometimes at work, the "onion cutter" will be wearing a scuba mask. Keep in mind, he's using a mechanical slicer to cut up maybe 20 or 25 pounds of onions---so it can be really bad.
Swimmer's goggles work, too.

You do not need goggles when cutting onions. Just run cold water while you are cutting them and you will not cry or bring tears to your eyes.

I use my safety glasses for this very purpose. It keeps the onions aerosol type juices from getting in my eyes.

i dont know i've never tried. i have used a kitchen towel held between my teeth to catch the fumes before they can reach my eyes. That worked well.
