The Lord's Prayer
Matthew 6:9-13
9After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11Give us this day our daily bread.
12And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Turn the other cheek is a famous phrase taken from the Sermon on the Mount in the Christian New Testament. In Jesus' Sermon on the Mount in the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus says:
"You have heard that it was said, 'An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.' But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you." (Matthew 5:38-42, NIV)
Christians are permitted to defend themselves and their families (Exodus 22:2; Numbers 1:2-3; Ecclesiastes 4:12; Luke 22:36; Acts 22:1; 25:10-11; 2 Timothy 4:16) and to use God-ordained authority to keep evil from harming them or others (Proverbs 28:8; Acts 16:37-39; 22:23-29).
However, what is forbidden is the taking of vengeance (Romans 12:17-21), bitterness (Ephesians 4:31), and retaliation (1 Peter 2:23). These are absolutely forbidden by Jesus and the apostles.

I did a little research .....
Matthew 18:21-22
Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, "Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?" Jesus answered, "I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times
Colossians 3:13
Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
Philippians 1:6
And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns
Luke 6:37
Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven
Matthew 6:14-16
For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins
Mark 11:25
And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins
I hope these help some how. Good luck!!!

Yes. Remember Vengeance is mine saith the Lord, I shall repay. So just forgive because Jesus forgave you. See Hebrews 8:12 and 1 Cor. 13:5, Ephesians 4:32 and Colossians 3:13. There are many verses regarding forgiveness. <><

There are two types of forgiveness.
One of the types is the type of forgiveness that helps you to grow and move on and not stay in a holding pattern of hurt.
This type does not require the hurtful one to ask for forgiveness.
This is the type of forgiveness Jesus Christ gave out on the cross at calvary (story found in Matthew , Mark, Luke and John.
Jesus said , forgive them father, for they know not what they do.
I know it seems as if the one whom hurt us knew exactly what he or she was doing, but God states that we do not fight against human flesh, we fight against spirits and principalities. Meaning there is demonic activity that spurs hurtful behavior. (right from the beginning, it was satin that was behind the fall of mankind. He needed a human to manipulate, but if he had not interfered, Mankind would not have fallen.
The second kind of forgiveness requires a hurter to ask you for forgiveness once they have seen the error of their ways.
Ideally, we would get to use both kinds on the same hurtful event. Forgiving once to heal ourselves and the second time to heal the one whom hurt us.

MatTHEW 18:21 Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?
Mat 18:22 Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.
The verse doesn't mean 490 times the number 7 is the number of perfection in the Bible, so 70 x 7 means beyond perfection

To the complete f***ing tool box that first answered your question--I hope you rot in hell, because it is real and that is where you are going, whether you choose to believe it or not. Are you telling me that because you don't "believe" in prison, let's say...you aren't going to be sent there if you murder someone? It doesn't work that way. You can believe in whatever bulls**t you like, but in the end, what is is what is. Have fun burning baby, bring your pocket mister, you'll need it. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
And to the asker--Christians forgive others shortcomings and wrongdoings because God forgives us of ours. Jesus paid the ultimate price for our sin, and therefore we are expected to do the same. It is very difficult at times, and may take years, but we are asked to do this in the bible. Also, remember.........God gave us anger as a tool to use in certain times, God felt anger, Jesus felt anger, we feel anger. It is what we do with it that matters. Stand up for yourself, but try to forgive and move on and spend your time with people who matter. : )
