Yes, it is a Christian concept. Although the word "rapture" is not mentioned in the Bible, the concept of it is. You will find it in 1st Thessalonians 4:17. It is when, at the end of Earth's history (coming soon), Christ returns in all His glory with all the angels of Heaven, to resurrect the dead saved of all time, and to transform those still alive. Then they will be caught up (raptured) to meet the Lord in the air.

Read 1 Thess 4:13 until the end of chapter 5.

The word, rapture, is translated "caught up" in chapter 4 verse 17.

It's a thing the Christians came up with that says the "faithful" will be whisked away before the "Tribulation" when all of us non believers will suffer wars famine and misery on earth.
It's a modern invention that is not backed up by any theological texts written before the 20th century.

First answer was accurate, they think when all hell breaks loose, they will be taken out of it, and are even looking forward to it.

I think it is poppycock, and that IF it happens, it will be by their own hand, and a great letdown will ensue.
