Especially if that's what you expect to do for eternity also.

What a horrible collection of answers... I just had to give one myself and hope it doesn't stink as badly... We'll see:

I think the meaning of life is what is being addressed. I believe what my life means may not match what your life means at all, or in other words, we do not all have to have the same exact meaning for our lives. We may actually make our own meaning, writing our own future as we go.

Then, the question to be considered is, "Do I decide the meaning of my own life, or is it already decided for me?" Those believing that God has a 'plan' for everything, and it isn't up to them to decide anything, in my opinion do not want to face the reality that, whatever hand we are dealt in the first place, it is our task to make something happen in our life. We have to set goals, we have to work toward them in steps, and we can be successful. Nobody has God doing these things for them, whether they think so or not. They may feel a 'push' or have a dream or something similar - but that does not mean God planned a thing for them. It could amount to a friendly suggestion, because they have free will, after all.

If anyone believes their entire life is already planned out for them, then they believe that they do not, in fact, have free will. In that case, perhaps they would not want to continue as a slave and would lose their interest in serving for an eternity!

I don't think I see anyone spending their whole life doing nothing but 'serving and worshipping God' - but instead they seem to follow their own interests and dreams, doing what they want to. They may use religious guidelines and principles when doing so sometimes, but it is not the summation of their life now is it? NOPE... it doesn't amount to more than an influence on their decision process.

This servant has more freedom and joy than she ever did when she was in the servitude and bondage of the world. The point of life IS to serve and worship Him. That is where true freedom is found. A life of a servant of God is full of excitement, challenge and happiness. The reason we were created. I will never go back to not having a purpose or any hope.

the problem is not what you are really asking.

The problem is your views on serving and worshipping God.

If everyone here could hear your views on serving and worshipping God then it would be obvious why you think it is wrong or insufficient. Your most likeley view of serving and worshipping God is singing or listening to a stupid boring sermon reading the bible or spending countless hours sitting in your room doing nothing and calling it prayer.

THATS NOT SERVING OR WORSHIPPING GOD.

You have to read the new testament for yourself to see what Jesus says about serving God.
Look at what Jesus did in his life by reading the new testament not just listening to preachers give you small fragments.

You will see that serving and worshipping God encompasses EVERYTHING.

You can serve God by being an honest businessman that donates 50% of the profits to charity.

You can worship God by serving the needy.

You can do MANY THINGS not the stupid boring rituals that you have come to think is worship.

SERVE GOD BY LOVING OTHERS.

Worship is our reaction to God's glory.
When you see a painting and say WOW.
When you look at the sky and say WOW.

When you feed the homeless.
When you care for the sick.
When you visit the lonely.

Anyway your answer is no longer valid because your views of serving and worshiping is obviously inaccurate.

Think about it, would you rather have your lifes meaning be.

GO TO SCHOOL>
GRADUATE>
GET A JOB>
GET MARRIED>
HAVE KIDS>
KICK THEM OUT>
RETIRE>
DIE

What piece of Crap life that is.
You didn't help anyone.
You are selfish.
You didnt even help the needy.

I mean, people say they don't need God to be GOOD PEOPLE
yet I HAVE NEVER MET ANY UNBELIEVER who dedicates AT LEAST 10% of their EVERY PAYCHECK to charity.
they brag about doing fundraisers once a year and yet they cant get their family income to be shared with those in need.

I think its just a way to appease your guilt over your greed when you try to attack Christianity.

But for the asker, I would give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you honestly wanted an answer for that.

Grace and Peace to you.

God is the universal spirit, that hold the universe together, as one. God is there to inspire and guide us. The universe and the world is not perfect, so it is very challenging. This is good for bringing out the best qualities in man, as any challenging crisis tend to do. We need to serve mankind, and address the serious problems of this world, so that we will have a better tomorrow. God would like that, since God is a constructive and harmonious spirit. God does not need worship, or to be served. We need a connection with God, and serve God by serving ourself and humanity. A connection with God can be made, even if we don't believe in him, just by being in harmony with the universe, and being strong in constructively contributing to this world. I believe in reincarnation, so to me this relationship with God, does not change in some different type existence after death.

Not at all. If it wasn't for God, we wouldn't have life at all. This whole universe would not exist if it weren't for him. The least we could do is do what he expects from us. He promises us everlasting life on earth in abundance of peace. Obviously someone would not want to live forever in a world like the one we live in now. But God promises us that he will take away all pain and suffering. The feelings will be no more and their will be no more evil. He promises us that, and the ones who follow him will recieve it.

You make that sound like it's no fun ... I serve and worship God daily, and I'm having a great time! I think that perhaps you have a misconception of what that means.

My husband and I are giving it our best for His first command "be fruitful and multiply", although the multiply part is done for us lol, we still try to "be fruitful" at every opportunity ;)

It's not like the meaning in your life is to just sit in a pew and sing, or walk around singing praises and never do anything else.

I wasn't born to boost the ego of my deities. They know they are all powerful, etc. I was born to live my life, to love, to learn and to help others. Yes, I pray and worship them, but that is not my only purpose here on earth.

As for eternity: I will either choose to converse with my deities on the nature of the universe and time OR hang out with past generations and friends , OR be reborn once in awhile to learn new lessons.

That's my past, present and future for you. ^_^

My friend you are missing the point of what it means to "serve and worship God." Jesus said that he came that we might have life and more abundant life. The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 2:9

No eye has seen,
no ear has heard,
no mind has conceived
what God has prepared for those who love him

God has the best life planned for all of us.

Why would that be missing the point? The reduction of our full potential into actuality is the point, and so no; we've not missed the point of being born.
