"Seek and ye shall find" means to seek after Christ and God's word. If you turn to God for forgiveness of your sins and turn to Christ for salvation of your soul, then you have 'sought and found' - :)

Martin Luther had the same question.
The very founder of the "Reformation", Martin Luther, was the "regrettable" one, as he surveyed the damage that his rebellion against authority had caused. His writings show that he lamented his deed when he penned the following remarks...
"This one will not hear of Baptism, and that one denies the sacrament, another puts a world between this and the last day: some teach that Christ is not God, some say this, some say that: there are as many sects and creeds as there are heads. No yokel is so rude but when he has dreams and fancies, he thinks himself inspired by the Holy Ghost and must be a prophet."
De Wette III, 61. quoted in O'Hare, THE FACTS ABOUT LUTHER, 208.
"Noblemen, townsmen, peasants, all classes understand the Evangelium better than I or St. Paul; they are now wise and think themselves more learned than all the ministers."

I think the answer lies in the fact that people are different. We wear different clothes, we like different foods, we like different activities, we have different experiences...why would our beliefs all be the same? And I also don't think it's a bad thing...I think religious diversity can be good, as it makes one think about why one believes what one believes.
I've studied many different religions, and I have to say that there are beautiful things about each one that I've learned about. But that doesn't mean that I believe in all of them. I believe that Jesus and Mohammed were wise, inspirational men, and we would do well to follow their examples, but that they are not what later religious beliefs made them out to be.
Personally, I'm a Buddhist, because when I learned about Buddhism I found that it naturally coincided with many of my deeply held beliefs. Buddhists aren't concerned about whether or not there's a god, or what happens in the afterlife. Buddhism focuses on the present, and making ourselves the best people we can be now. Regardless of whether or not there's a higher power, we should be the best people we can be...that's what it boils down to for me. I know there are others who disagree with me, and I'm fine with that - they can believe whatever feels right to them, as long as they are not infringing on the rights of others.
I hope this answers your question.

Jesus said Seek and Ye shall find, to mean that God does not hide from us. Seek Him out, and He will be there for you to find. Problem is, the means by which people seek out God. Are you seeking God to better yourself and aid your standard of living, cause you won't find God that way. It is a path riddled with false idols, false prophets and false teachings. Give up yourself, and seek out God, and He will find you and restore you to your rightful glory in Him.

Mainly because they seek not the truth, but what tickles their ears.
2 Timothy 4:3
For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear

Everyone is different. No two are the same.
I cannot understand why people think that ALL Christians ought to be exactly alike in every single belief that they have.
We are all different.
Each person has his/her own situation. Each person has a different path, like one of the first people who answered stated.

Beliefs are human contructs designed to help us imagine the face of God.
If we all agree, whatever your particular theology, that God is omnipresent (infinite) then by definition everything IS God.
All paths lead to the same source. To pretend otherwise is to limit God to human understanding and limitations.
Nothing can exist outside of God. If it could then God would not be GOD. He was just be a tribal deity that modern man refuses to grow out of.

because of the fact thee are diverse paths --some stick to a minimum of one, some stick to yet another. there's a Jain proverb: "the fact has many facets." people who virtually seek for do locate--and that they locate an analogous fact. The "differences" are merely in how the fact provides itself of their lives.

because people want a religion that fits their "lifestyle" they dont want to change their ways...if someone doesnt like rules and ristrictions they are gunna look for something that basically is a "rule free" religion...if that even exists...so they basically wont sacrafice anything for faith in god
