'Cause she likes to roll incognito.
Kidding. Kidding.
I agree that it likely stems from the bible being written by men in an era in which women were suppressed.

some answers are just simply stupid; don't give an answer just to lose your time. If u read more about all kind of religions u will see that the mighty God, the suprem one was always a man. eaven if this one was folowed of other smaller Gods man or wimen.in christianity God the "Father" is the one who created the world, in the old egipian religion was also a man the suprem God called Plath folowed by other gods as Osiris, Ra and Apophis. each one had a specify power. the vikings had Odin and Wotan or vili and Ve, but the suprem one was Odin. Greeks had Zeus& Hera folowed by many other small gods wimen and man. The women god was always considereted only the mother of an importand god , women-fertility-sons-future....but not always too important to be mentioned. The virgin Maria is the mother of Jesus , a saint women but not godess, just simply conected to the Suprem God -humans. the "Allmighty God" is seen as a man bcs always the man was considerated powereful and the one who protects better. The women is seen as week being. But my dear nobody can say 100% for sure the The God we or they chouse to fallow is for real , or is a He not a She as u said but it's hopless for u to fight against all the human being on the world who believe in God , no matter wich one. The human must have fear of something and in what else if not fear of the Allmighty God :) u can find million books about this subject or just read it on internet. too much mistery around us, if u believe in God your concience is more relieved if not doesn't mean u are doomd for eternity to hell :P Read much and open the eyes of your mind and u can't let anybody to influence you with something that u just simply can't believe or accept. just fly away to the light !!!

None of the languages used for the Bible had a neutral gender noun form. Everything was a he or a she.
Masculine was the default gender if you were unsure.
The practise has left some strange effects in English. A ship is always a she even if it has a masculine name and is classed as a "man of war".
They really did not have any way of referring to God as an "It."

When right in our Human Society it is Man first and Higher in Status, Then Why God has to be a SHE?
Are you not degrading God by Doing So?
I apologize if this had hurt Women but facts are facts, Sorry

In reality, God has no gender. He is a spirit creature, not a physical being.
Men are "head of their household" and have positions of authority and God has always tried to use physical terms to help physical creatures understand his nature more. That's why in other places in the Bible God's also referred to as having eyes, ears, hands etc. Men are "superior" to women when it comes to the Bible. Not in a sexist way though. There simply has to be order and when there's a disagreement between a husband and wife (for example) what the man says ultimately goes. But men are not supposed to be unloving or "lord it over" women.
So when God refers to himself as male, it was so people could understand that he is superior in all things. He doesn't have "a head" over his household. In the olden days, people understood that more easily.
Now-a-days with the battle of the sexes it's harder to comprehend.
Hope that makes sense.

Who or what would you trust as an authority on this subject, a priest or an atheist, a scientist or psychiatrist?
In the oldest reference work we have-the Bible, which God supposedly gave us, God refers to himself as a male.

I don't think so. The bible says God created man in His image. Male and female created He them. Many words in the bible have a masculine and /or feminine meaning. If you study linguistics you can find the differences.

If you believe in the Holy Bible inspirationally written by
God, then He says He is the Father (male) and He sent
His Son (which is male) Jesus to die for our sins. How
much clearer can He get? But, I guess, you always have
people who want to spin and twist the truth.

God is Spirit, and therefore has no sex as we define it. But He chose a male persona in order to interact with us, so we follow suit. It IS interesting, though, that He refers to Himself occasionally as a 'mother hen'.
