900 cals is way too low to promote fat loss. you should be consuming the absolute bare minimum of 1,400 cals based on the BMR for your current bodyweight.
also the lower the caloric intake the higher the quality of nutrients there must be. which basically means you need to consume 90% whole foods that you need to cook yourself from scratch. low calorie processed foods are not nutritious regardless of what the manufacturer of them may claim. they also have a very negative effect on the metabolism and health in general

Only consuming 900 calories a day is very dangerous. If you actually needed to lose weight, a doctor would recommend something around 1700 calories a day instead of 2000, but it depends on the intentions and the individual person. You could develop serious malnutrition issues and pass them on to your baby when you breastfeed as well. If you eat well and stay active( not necessarily working out but not on the couch all day) then you will lose that 10 pounds in 1-3 months.

If you don't breastfeed, then I would deduct about 500 calories from your maintenance calories. For example, you weigh 130, well depending on your height, without the aid of exercise, you should probably be eating about 1200 - 1400 calories a day, no less than 1200. You could probably go as high as 1500. Once you're doc gives you the ok to work out, I would start off by walking and then do some light strength training. You should lose that 10 lbs within about 2 1/2 months. 10 weeks x 1 lb a week. Best of luck and congrats on the birth of your little one! :)

900 calories is too few for someone who breast feeds sometimes. You should go to at least 1800 calories a day, with most of the calories coming from fruits and vegetables, and exercise briskly for an hour a day once your doctor gives you the OK-go.
If you're really concerned about the amount of calories you're eating while being sedentary, then cut back to 1500 calories, but no lower. Go up to 1800 calories once your doctor says it's okay to be active again. If you have any other concerns, talk to your OB/GYN.

Ok. This is how it works. It's all about calories, and a normal amount of exercise.
There are 3500 calories in a pound. When you get down to 120, in order to MAINTAIN that weight, you will eat your weight X15. That would be 120 X15=1800 calories daily, assuming you're not just sitting around all day, which I doubt with you new sweet little baby! (Congrats!)
So if you're eating 900 calories daily, you should be losing a pound every 4 days (approx. 900X4=3600.) So you should lose 10 pounds in about 4+ weeks. Good luck!! :)

You should be consuming more than 900 calories per day, especially if you are breastfeeding at all. Concentrate on that baby for now and worry more about your weight when you're able to work out. You aren't at an unhealthy weight.

900 calories is a good diet, usually its about 2000 a day. BUT, eating a small amount is NEVER the answer to any weight loss problems. If you do llose weight by having 900 cals a day, it would go fairly slow. excersice is needed to help BURN off the calories, and then the diet takes off a few and helps keep the weight down. SO i would reccomend jogs, biking or any activity to get you moving to work in sync with your diet. at this rate, 10lbs should take a few weeks..... but then again 900 calories is extremely low and could cause mal nutrition, i would say have at LEAST 1300 a day to stay healthy

I did this exact same thing after I had my son. It took about 3 months before I was down to my complete pre pregnancy weight.
Before I had kids I started at 110. After my first I was 125. After my son I was 145 (huge), so then I did 900 cals to get back down to 110 and that took 3 months.
and I did not breastfeed

there are 3500 calories in one pound of pure fat. Your body uses about 1000 calories to run in 24 hours and added with you taking care of a baby you will will probably 1 lb every day or two. Good luck, I know losing weight is really hard after a baby :)
