1. Take some clear tape (Scotch tape, not the thick kind)

2. Grab a strand of your hair and straighten it with an electric straightener. This will make sure that all the hair is in the same direction, and none of it is sticking up. Make sure you pin the rest of your hair away from that strand, you don't want dye stains on it, especially if the color is a drastic difference (i.e. blonde with blue coons)

3. Now wrap a piece of tape around a section of your hair you want protected from the dye. Start at the top and work your way down. Don't worry about the tape on your hair, Scotch tape isn't very sticky.

4. Open your dye package and pour it into the container. Put the gloves on.

5. Now rub some dye between your thumb and forefinger (so it is spread around on the fingers) and gently rub over the uncovered hair. Keep on doing this until the uncovered parts have dye over them. All you have to do is wait how long it says on the package. You should be able to see the stripe now, the taped-over parts will remain fairly dye-free.

6. While you are washing your hair in the sink/shower, the tape will just come off. Again, it's not like it's duct tape you put on your hair, the Scotch tape will just float away when you get water on it. Dry your hair (probably best to blow-dry, and DEFINITELY don't towel-dry.) there you have it-doesn't that remind you of a racoon's tail?

Say what? Can someone tell me what a "coon tail" is or are you talking about real racoon tails? Doesn't "coon tail" sound a little racist too?

for me it depends on the girl. Like I might notice a girl with black hair and think she is totally hot however see a girl with blond tresses that is meh and vice versa.

Get a professional to do it.

If you're dying extensions, though, I suppose you could do it yourself. Just use tape to cover the parts you don't want dyed and then carefully apply the dye. But it'll look better if you have a professional do it.
