What is up w/ jelly babys answer? Don't even read that crap. They do want the best for you but they rarely know whats even best for them much less another individual who they claim they "own" for 18 years. You should show them as much respect as they show you. It's your god given right to express your individuality. Just remember, if you dress like a slut then guys will treat as such.

I guess it is because they love you and know what is going on in the world today.
Girls today wear clothing that emphasizes their bodies and the male species will want it and do anything to get it.
Rape, murder and assult are things to think about.
Do you even know about heaven and hell? Do you know where you will go when you die.
You are young and feel like nothing can happen to you
nothing can hurt you because you have an eternal soul and it will live for eternity.
You are old enough to know right from wrong and must make a decision soon as to what you will believe. Will you believe that Jesus died for you or will you choose not to accept His gift of eternal life in heaven.
Take time to think about what it would be like if your parents
didn`t care what you did. Would you really like it?

I've been reading some of your post, and your battle are NOT with your parents, it's with yourself. At 14 you want your independence and identity, but what you don't understand is that you still don't know any better. The world is NOT a nice place if you don't listen to the advice of elders who see what your young eyes can't.
It's not about the clothes or the music or who you hang out with, it's about you wanting to find out "who you are" but in the process you aren't willing to listen to the guidance given.
"You can't listen clearly if fist are clenched."
"Life hold so much, so much to be so happy about always. Most people ask for happiness on condition. Happiness can be felt only if you don't set conditions."
best wishes
A.

Heh, heh, heh...
You need to learn how to play these silly people. Attempting to control you on small issues is a waste of their authority. A good parent knows how to pick their battles.
When your dad has you on the phone, describe the dowdiest, nerdiest outfits in the world. What you really wear is none of his concern until he is physically in the house. I reckon he is more worried about you coming home pregnant.
See if you can find a Unitarian Church in your area... they are friendly to a wide range of outlooks and are not nutjob evangelicals. Chances are there are some nice groups within that you can hang out with.

You're only fourteen , so you don't know what you will be when you grow up and neither do they.
Your parents are just trying to see that you have a chance to grow up. Most parents do stupid stuff like you said, not to control, but to protect their kids.
The world is stranger and less safe for kids than ever before.
Try to understand where they are coming from, and give them a break.
Give them more info about what you do and things you are interested in, and they will start feeling more secure and less afraid for you.

Parents who try and control loose control. They don't see that. I give my kids many choices. We both have respect for one another. My mom on the other had tried to make me do what she wanted and like what she liked. It never worked ,I have had my own mind all my life. She now says she is sorry and knows she was wrong in trying to cotrol me too much. It is out of fear. You will be out od the house in a few years. Just try to explain that you are your own person.

Why do you teenagers wish your life away? always rushing to grow up, your parents can control you all they like until you hit 18 then you can say you are old enough to make decisions.
They brought you into this world and gave you your life and are within their right to control it until they see you are grown enough to go at it alone.
Who pays the bills? whos home are you living in? who puts food on the table and clothes on your back? who makes sure you have a bed to sleep in and helps you when you need it? Remember you are still a child and as long as you behave like one you will be treated as such.
Respect the people who brought you up and love you unconditionally, there are kids out there that don't even have that and would kill for a loving, caring parent

You're only 14. Your parents DO know best. Be thankful you have parents who have the sense to know that you need a good foundation and shouldn't be running around in clothes better suited to a 19 year old woman.

i think it rather is because of the fact they love you and comprehend what is going on in the international right this moment. females right this moment positioned on clothing that emphasizes their bodies and the male species will want it and do something to get it. Rape, homicide and assult are issues to think of roughly. Do you even comprehend approximately heaven and hell? do you comprehend the place you will bypass once you die. you're youthful and experience like no longer something can ensue to you no longer something can harm you on the grounds which you have an eternal soul and it will stay for eternity. you're sufficiently previous to renowned ideal from incorrect and can desire to decide on quickly as to what you will have self assurance. Will you have self assurance that Jesus died for you or will you decide on for to no longer settle for His present of eternal existence in heaven. Take time to think of roughly what it may be like in the experience that your mothers and dads didn`t care what you probably did. could you rather like it?

there are two completely different answers to this question:
1. If you think you do know best.... wait before you agree with this one..... if you really think you do, if you think you can eat healthy yourself, if you think you can stay strong and not give into peer pressure of doing something your parents told you not to do, if you think you can separate what's actually appropiate and un appropiate for you to wear, and if you really think you can do EVERYTHING yourself.... then you need to stick up for yourself..... some people just crumble when someone calls them chicken or if someone laughs at them for wearing "granny panties" but you have to be your own person....... In my opinon, I don't know you but most 14 yr olds..... this doesn't automatically put you in this but.... most 14 yr olds can't stand up for them self and will give into what other people are doing...... so think about it before you agree......
2. You decided to read this one too, lol, but if you think your parents are trying to protect you and trying to do what's best for you, then you should listen once in a while but stand up for yourself if you're being pushed too far...... Don't argue with your parents when they're just trying to "help"...... see what I did, I put quotations because parents know what it use to be like when they were young and they don't want you to do the things they did and they're just trying to lead you the right way, but sometimes parents make you wear turtle-neck shirts and baggy pants.... if you know what I mean...... like when they don't want you to wear a thong sticking out from your pants, they will overdo everything, they you negotiate and tell your parents that you want their opinion but not to over do it..... thell them you know what's best........ tell them you want to learn right from wrong and for them to not over do it..........
