Use the Frontline Cat to get rid of the fleas on the cat first. Then deal with your house, it takes some time to wipe them all out of the house drop an anti flea bomb or use a spray every where. The vaccum cleaner is your best weapon, vac as often as you can espr especially where the cats been laid or sitting. Good Luck I hope you get rid.

DON'T go down the salt, borax, Dawn route you'll be wasting your time. They don't work. Dawn only washes fleas off - pointless, and then you have to wait 48 hours before you can use the Frontline. Salt and Borax are pretty much old wives tales - they might get the odd flea but again, a waste of time.

Wait for the Frontline. Make sure you apply it to the skin, not the fur of the animal. Do not bath the animal before or after applying it. Also get a proper house spray from a vets, not a pet store.

Be aware that any treatment you buy online may not be genuine - I've heard of people buying stuff from petmeds that was a fake. If the Frontline works then fine but if not, you might need to consider the fact that it's not the genuine article - or that you haven't treated your house properly.

Salting the carpets and furniture works great actually. Baths in citrus Dawn work great, and you can rinse them with lemon juice and water and let it dry on their fur for added protection.
