Evolution is non-random. Mutations are, but natural selection is like a filter.
Progession between species is hard to show because species is a poorly defined word. It's workable only because most of the creatures linking different species together are extinct. However, there are ring species that have different groups that can interbreed, but the two ends of the line can'r.
We are evolving. Humans as a whole are taller than humans 200, 300 years ago. It's two slow to notice in a lifetime.
Read a book on evolution written by an actual biologist. Dawkins writes books you could understand without too much background and he is a good writer. Try "Climbing Mount Improbable".

First of all, I am not an atheist. Not even close. The lines between species are so ill-defined that scientists are still searching for a definition for the term. I'd explain more, but you didn't really ask a very well-defined question. It wasn't every single time, and most mutations happen in somatic cells rather than gametes, so they aren't passed on. Most species produce far more offspring than can possibly survive, so only the weirdos with beneficial mutations survive. When two species that can interbreed have babies, often the benefits of each meld and the offspring lose the advantages of both, so they don't survive. This helps the species become more defined. I'm not trying to tear down your religion, I don't buy that evolution is the origin of the species, but I definitely believe that evolution exists.

You obviously do not work with living organisms.
I'm a plant biologist and in my world I am under a constant attempt to identify new breeds, varieties and types of plants from an original source. It is the basis of plant breeding.
Also, as I look (as an example) at willows, I find a very subtle difference if many species, and a lot of interbreeding. It varies in many cases and many species interbreed about 10% of the time, some do so 50% of the time.
If you really want to understand evolution, you may write to me but I ask that you are sincere about learning. I find most believers in this forum are not. (i.e., wake me up when you have something intelligent to say).
PS, like your avatar.

Progression happens over millions of years, you can't "see" the progression in animals, but it can be observed in single celled prokaryotic organisms which reproduce thousands of times faster than multi celled organisms so evolution seems to happen in fast forward mode.
Mutations seem "clean cut" because any mutation that is either useless or hinders the species is eliminated through natural selection, besides, evolution had HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF YEARS of trial and error.
And please get a textbook because you don't know what the hell you're talking about. Thank you.

Hold on.
*long drink*
That should cover me for the day.
The "gaping holes" in religion FAR outnumber those in evolution.
And capitalizing theory does not offend me. I know it's a theory. Apparently, however, YOU do not know what a theory actually is. Evolution is occuring. Proof? Why do you have to get a flu shot every year?

I am a christian and yes, evolutions occur through some mutations. recently, there were a couple of hummingbirds (I think they were) found in central park. they had something wrong with them, they stayed and froze to death.
If something had changed in the destination and something changed in New York, then they would procreate and lose the desire to fly to the same screwed up place. does that example help?

I think that we are evolving a little bit.If you compare humans now to humans 2000 years ago there would be diffrences. We as a whole are taller, stronger, and have adapted to many environmental factors. If we couldnt evolve and adapt then wouldnt breathing severely polluted air everyday have a pretty negaive effect on us?

Is there a question in here somewhere? While we are at it why don't you take this rant over to the science section?

Try looking up "natural selection" and see if that answers your question.

Objective Scientists have calculated that the chances of Macro-Evolution having happened is over 1,000,000,000,000,000 to 1.
Didn't happen - and the evidence of a Creator is all around us in so many ways if we have eyes to see it.
