maybe there's something wrong with the stove

You have to figure 15 minutes because it takes almost 10 to bring the water to a boil before you even add the rice. If you do it in the microwave, it will be a lot less time, and yes, Minute rice is the brand name and the fact that it takes only minutes to make rice compared to cooking raw rice which may take up to an hour.

It doesnt for me, but packaging is usually deceptive
it usually takes me about 5 minutes to cook minute rice

Mabye your stove is not providing much heat

Minute is a brand name not the cooking time.

That's why they call it Minuet Rice & not Hour Rice.
and to all you other answerers it sometimes takes me 20
(depending on my wine consumption)
