I do agree with you. "He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him"-- John 3:36. God expects us to gather together with other Christians and worship together.

The Bible doesn't specifically say to go to church. It says to keep the sabbath holy, and it says to seek Christian fellowship. At its best, a church serves both purposes, but it doesn't for everyone and it's certainly not the only option.
Last night I attended a friend's wedding. At one point during the reception, I looked at the people sitting around me talking and laughing and realized that these people know me better and love me more than any church I've ever attended. It's a Christian fellowship, whether we hear a sermon together or not.
Come to that, I consider that I have Christian fellowship right here sometimes--for instance, (Angry) Cas' questions are actually a spiritual growth opportunity for me. This question was, too. Isn't that what a fellowship is for?

True sabbath is sundown Friday night till Saturday night sundown. Sunday is from pagan origins when the pagans were being forced to convert to Christianity. Same time Christmas, Easter, Halloween all came over as well.
Bible is clear not to bring traditions from others, yet its happened. Bible is clear not to change the words, but that happened as well. The bible also states you shall not make any holidays of G_D yet that has happened as well. And the sabbath is even a commandment, yet even that is not held.
Even Yahushau (Jesus) said, I have not come to abolish the law, but fulfill it. So these comments of, Jesus changed the laws and we go on Sunday now is a farce.
Plus Acts 17 clearly says G_D does not reside in buildings nor need anything from our hands. Yet people believe you must go to church and give to a plate. The bible does not state that, even about tithe.

You don't need to go to church to go to Heaven. You can find him just as easily at home. I stay away from churches because most of the ones I have been to are just weekly routines that people do to make themselves feel like that are all right with God. They usually just suck any type of personal connection with God right out. And no, I am not saying all churches are like that, just some of them.

does that mean that everyone who goes to church is going to heaven? if everyone not going to church is not going to heaven? obedience is knowing about the faith, knowing why we do certain things and why we believe certain things. it goes by actions and words. there are good people who follow the church, who follow God's teachings, who do better things on sundays than sitting in a church and mindlessly following rituals that we've been taught since birth. people could be helping the world, or doing things that make them feel closer to God, rather than doing things that society teaches us should make us feel closer to God.

It was stifling to the spirit, even when I was a believer. I've always had a hard time being so wholesome and nicey-nice that long. Don't take that wrong, I'm not a nasty monster who delights in being upsetting or crude, but I'm not very sociable by nature and I hate putting on smiles just to please. Even now, I'd much rather take a long walk in the woods all alone to meditate and ponder.

Going to church is just showing off your sunday finery.
You serve God best by being out on the streets, preaching His word

It doesn't say anything in the Bible about having to go to church... as a matter a fact it says you can worship anywhere you feel close to god, In your closet or on a hill top.. church is simply a place people go to worship to be around other people who feel the holy spirt with in themselves and want to express it with other followers, but church is not manditory!

No, because heavenly Father is a fictional character created by humans again and again in religion after religion in order to understand their place in the universe.

I am not a christian but I have several friends who are. Some of them choose not to go to church as they consider their relationship with god to be personal and private. Are you seriously saying that christians who don't go to church aren't going to heaven? do me a favour :)
