its mostly black with a few patches of tan. i cant think of one, its a male.

colditz........i most associate gs dogs as guard dogs so that is what name came to mind first.

I like Jet, and Shadow for black dogs! (Ebony if female)
My friend has a large black Shepherd he calls Shwarz I think that's how its spelt short for Shwarzenegger after Arnie but it IS the German word for Black! So rather appropriate anyway.

We've had several GSs and everyone of them were called 'PAL' (Pal 1 , Pal 2 etc) for one simple reason , they will be your Pal for life. Very intelligent , always alert , a one person dog , who has the inclination to protect you. Watch out for a thing called CDRM in these dogs , it's a cogenital disease due to over-breeding. Good Luck
