I need free software compatible with ubuntu and can wipe everything from my hard drive, and delete extra partitions and also remove ubuntu so i can install vista. Also I need help with formating my drive to NTFS format so vista will run on it.. any help here?

Installing Vista -should- give you the option of wiping the hard drive and rewriting the partition when you install it. It's commonly called a "clean installation."

vista will do it all for you.
alterntaivly you could not do something that stupid
for a ubuntu tool to wipe disks theres
dd if=/dev/urandom of=/dev/
to format into ntfs theres gparted or qtparted that need ntfs-3g or ubuntu gutsy

vista cd will ask you if you want to reformat /repartition your hard drive prior to installing the software. So just insert the vista cd and run the setup.

Drop the vista disk into your drive and re-boot to the CD drive. IT will allow you to reformat your drive, and delete all partitions

when installing vista, you will have the option for format the drive. do a full format and the install it. a full format will clean the drive.
