i would think that would be a good present. I'd rather get that for my children then the "newest overly priced" video games. If they think that you wont use them right for any reason also ask for a " how to book" on lifting weights the proper way as not to injure yourself

I think it is a great present for a teenage kid, so long as the expense isn't too much for your parents' budget. The only hesitancy I would have as a parent is in worrying that you may not know the correct way to use the weights, or that you may try to overdo it. If you want to show your parents that you would be responsible, start doing some research on the subject so you can show you are knowledgable about what type of weights you would need, how you would use them properly, and how heavy they should be for your build to not overstrain yourself.

I would inquire as to the reason he/she wanted them, but in general I think it's very healthy and a positive activity. Nothing wrong with wanting to be healthy, and a 15 year old is generally too young to hit the gym, so a little equipment at home is fine.

If they say no, pushups will give you great arm strength, too.

I'd probably say yes, but I'd want to make sure that this is not just a passing phase. Have you been working out already? Do you use dumbbells at school or a local gym? If your parents are hesitant, show them that you're serious by showing them how much you want it and that they're not just wasting their money.

My step son had a weight set at 14, so. no that is not a bad age. It is great at any age to be in shape. I think under age 12 it is not a good idea.

Sure, weights are not a bad thing at all. 15 is a fine age to do that. Just don't get obsessed with a huge body. You will regret it.

But really, you should also read a few books. Your spelling and grammar is horrid.

I would buy them for my son. They're not that expensive, and there's no reason to NOT buy them. Being physically fit is a GOOD thing.

Hell, I'd give them to you, if you agreed to use them at least 3 times a week.

Talk to your parents about this - it is O.K. in my books and they are not that expensive. You just have to be very disciplined and keep it up.
