Atheism isn't a religion as it's lacking so many things to make it a bona fide religion.
The only thing it has is a belief that there is no gawd. That's it. It's for this reason that a Buddhist can be an atheist but it doesn't mean that every Buddhist is like that or that every atheist is a Buddhist.
There's also the problem that atheism means different things to different people. It's to the point where a quote attributed to Robert A Heinlein says, "trying to get atheists to agree on something is like trying to herd cats". It just can't be done as the only thing we have in common is our disbelief. Once you get beyond that, we're all in our own little camps.

Atheism is no belief in god. That is it. There is nothing else. As such it is NOT a religion. Give it a rest and stop trying make atheism more then it is. All it is, Is no belief in god!
I don't "live" by the belief there is no god. I live by the belief I should do the best I can. It is different for all people and there for not part of a religious thinking.

No atheism is not a religion. We don't congregate and pray to some non god and give our lifes, self respect and dignities and money over to some crazy cult that's destroying the world with one sided backwards views. Religions are a means of refusing to move foreword , whereas atheism is one step on the path to life.

No. Atheism is a negative; it is all lack of belief. Most atheist believe in science, but atheism and science the are separate.

Atheism is religion in reverse, a religion of self deceit.
As a child longs for its parents, mankind longs for its Creator.

A religion is having beliefs without evidence. I myslef strive to use logic even when I don't necessarily like the answer.

A religion is a way of life. Based on the definition of religion, anything could be a person's religion.

"Atheism is no more a religion than "bald" is a hair color"
Perfect analogy. I wish I could take credit for that one or at least said something original and cool like bona fide ~ but ~ not.

Not a religion, but certainly a faith.
Religion has customs, rituals which believers use to worship their chosen diety(s).
Faith has no proof in either the legal or the empirical sense. It just is.
The Christian taking communion, the Jew prostrating himself on Yom Kippur, the Muslim fasting for Ramadan, the Hindu eschewing flesh, the Buddhist monk, all these practice a religion based on their respective faiths.
The atheist believes there is no god and just practices whatever he/she wants. (If they were truly logical in their faith that practice would be total hedonism, for that is the only sensible thing to do when you firmly believe that in the end you're nothing but worm food.)
