The Church of God written in the Bible is pure, it teaches pure doctrine.

For our exhortation was not of deceit, nor of uncleanness, nor in guile:
I Thessalonians 2:3
King James Version

But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts.
I Thessalonians 2:4
King James Version

There is no such thing as a pure religion. They all borrowed concepts from each other and were changed throughout the years. The Goatherder's Book of Fairytales is not proof that its stories are any more real than the Eddas.

Depends on how you interpret the Bible. That's the nice thing about it, it was written in a way where as if you read in between the lines you can read what you want, but also bear in mind that when it was translated politics did play a large part and politicians will use religion as a way to their means.

You want us to look at vs 27 but then refer to vs 26. Those whose religion is vain is one who does not keep control of his tongue. The pure religion involves looking after orphans and widows. I do not go on the trips to go caroling to the Homes for the elderly but I watch the children of those who do. I do go on the trips to bring thanksgiving dinners to the needy. Some are widows some are not. Our church also participates and encourages sponsoring orphans in Albania. My SS class participates in sponsoring one of the orphans. Yet I still would not consider myself pure or my relationship with Jesus perfect.

My religion is not entirely pure, no; why do you ask? But you also mention vain -- what does impure have to do with vain?

It so happens that my religion is both impure and vain -- but not because the two are connected.

So what are you trying to say?

What part of it? looking after widows and orphans, or keeping without spot from the world? Most religions don't do either, but most NEVER keep seperate from the world.

Great gods. Your silly quote from a mythology book just completely invalidated my faith! I'll just have to convert to whatever you believe in now because I'm so ashamed of myself for being such a blind fool.

Real religion is not just beliefs and good feelings but must encompass helping the poor, sick ,dependent and needy. Faith without works is dead.

Huh?

All religion is pure, even atheism could be considered as pure. It is people who screw it up.
