I've just come through the exact same situation to (18 aswell!)!! It varies, if you the honest truth, it hurt me A LOT, sorry, i had a pretty tough (grr) hymen though so i bleed the first few times! Talking to most my friends it hurt them aswell. Sorry i know that's not want you want to hear!!! My boyfriend was with a couple of other girls too before me, you two obviously love each other, he'll know it'll hurt you and go slow. If he starts going a bit rough, just say slow ow, slow down a bit. It'll be fine after the first few minutes, only a little uncomfortable, nothing unbearable, it's definitely gets better.

Little tip, it'll be hard but while he's going in use all you mind power to make you muscles down there as loose as possible, DON'T tense up.

It'll be ok. Good luck ;)

you should be proud of the fact that you've waited until you're ready-- a year is a good, steady commitment. it might hurt a little the first time, but that's perfectly normal. the hymen will be broken, depends on how tight you are, etc. there might even be a little bleeding, but that happens commonly. (but if it REALLY hurts, don't feel like you can't tell him to stop).

Also, if he really loves you he'll understand that you want to take it slow and especially as he's a little more experienced than you, he'll know how to be soft and gentle and go slow like you want. just talk to him about it and good luck :)

Most everybody on earth has managed to get through the first time without it being so painful that they wish to avoid it forever! Basically if you have had internal examinations by a gyno. or have used tampons, you probably won't have much problem. It may not be really enjoyable the first time, but as you said, take it slow and make sure you are excited before the act.

First of all if your not sure your ready to have sex DONT. And yes its hurts the first time even if you do take it slow. But most importantly dont do anything your not ready to do. Dont hurry and rush into a situation that you dont even think your ready for!!
