"If anyone secretly entices you--even if it is your brother, your father's son or your mother's son, or your own son or daughter, or the wife you embrace, or your most intimate friend-- saying, "Let us go worship other gods" you must not yield to or heed any such persons. Show them no pity or compassion and do not shield them. But you shall surely KILL them; your own hand shall be first against them to execute them, and then the hand of all the people. Stone them to death for trying to turn you away from the Lord your God." (Deut 13:6-10)

Why did the GOD of the Old Testament say to KILL all the NON-BELIEVERS ?
"Whoever sacrifices to any god other than the LORD must be destroyed. (Exodus 22:20)

They entered into a covenant to seek the Lord, the God of their fathers, with all their heart and soul; and everyone who would not seek the Lord, the God of Israel, was to be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman. (2 Chronicles 15:12-13 NAB)

Idol worship is a capital crime in the bible. It is as bad as murder or sexual immorality.

On the other hand, look what the Quran has to say:
Kill unbelievers:
Sura 9:123. O ye who believe! fight the unbelievers who gird you about, and let them find firmness in you: and know that Allah is with those who fear Him.

Don't be friends with Jews or Christians:
Sura 5:51: O ye who believe! Take not the Jews and the Christians for your allies and protectors: They are but allies and protectors to each other. And he amongst you that turns to them (for friendship) is of them. Verily Allah guideth not a people unjust.

Kill unbelievers in a cruel fashion:
Sura 5:33: "Those who make war with Allah and his messenger will be killed or crucified, or have their hands and feet on alternate sides cut off, or will be expelled out of the land. That is how they will be treated in this world, and in the next they will have an awful doom."

Slit throats of unbelievers:
Sura 47:4: Therefore, when ye meet the Unbelievers (in fight), smite at their necks; At length, when ye have thoroughly subdued them, bind a bond firmly (on them): thereafter (is the time for) either generosity or ransom: Until the war lays down its burdens. Thus (are ye commanded): but if it had been Allah's Will, He could certainly have exacted retribution from them (Himself); but (He lets you fight) in order to test you, some with others. But those who are slain in the Way of Allah--He will never let their deeds be lost.

it rather is the way that fake missionaries concept they have been gratifying Matt 24:14. yet in any different case is by utilising giving them loose foodstuff and products and becoming Rice Christians, people who convert for the only objective of accepting the loose help. There are people who're quite coaching the Bible right this moment and gratifying Matt 24:14 and that they stress no person.

God was talking to a specific, very wicked, and unworthy group of people- the Israelites. They looked for excuses not to be obedient, and the Lord had a work for them to do to further His plan. They ended up not being worthy and were destroyed over a 40 year period wandering in the wilderness until a new generation could be born who would obey Him. They had to live a very harsh law, as they so quickly became disobedient (golden calf, et al).

However, there were many capital crimes that the offended had to cast the first stone, so most executions were not carried out. It was just the threat of execution that kept many in line. Just like today.

God opened the earth Himself and killed a few thousand Israelites because they messed with Moses. Don't mess with God's annointed.

The Israelites were to be God's Holy People but they could not refrain from sinning and disobeying God. God finally sent Nebuchadnezzar to destroy most and take the remainder into captivity. Then God brought them back to Israel and sent His Son to take away the sins of the world because they could not keep the laws and they rejected Jesus. Titus destroyed Jerusalem again in 70 A.D. and scattered the Jews throughout the world, but May 1948 God brought them back to Israel and this time the Jews will remain in their Holy Land which God gave to them. It is written!!!

History has proven that Israel did not do what God told them to do, because the same enemy is their enemy today. It is written !!!

This same enemy is calling once again for all Jews to be annihilated, but this time the Christians are standing with the Jewish People and saying, NEVER AGAIN WILL THEY BE FORCED TO LEAVE THEIR LAND. NEVER AGAIN WILL SIX MILLION JEWS BE KILLED.

The Jewish genocide is OVER. There will not be another Holocaust. The Jewish people gave us the Holy Bible by their writings inspired by God.

I love both the Jewish people and the Muslim Islamic people but the President of Iran has called for annihilation of Israel and this I refuse to let happen in my lifetime.

This Muslim hatred of the Jews must be stopped. Ahmadinejad needs to apologize to the Israelites for his horrible statement. The Muslims fed hatred to Hitler concerning the Jews in WWII and fought with Hitler.

The Jewish people have suffered enough. Let them be in their land and do not mess with the West Bank. Gaza has shown the world enough. Taking the West Bank and turning it over to Hamas and Hezbollah is asking Israel to commit suicide.

As a Christian, I am speaking up for the Jewish People. I fear God and we will be judged according to how we treat the Jewish people. I pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

It was an example of how serious God is about his people. If anyone tried to mess with them, they were going to be in big trouble. The God of the old testament is the same God of the new testament; there is no difference. A lot of the old testament stories are given as historical background, and to really let us discover the attributes of God.

....your attempts at discrediting the bible is futile. I don't know what your goal is - maybe trying to justify your unbelief by poking "holes" in Christianity. But the end result is still futile. If you don't believe, that's fine, go live your life happily and do whatever you please, because after all, you won't have any ultimate consequences.

God was trying to raise up a new nation that would be totally devoted to Him, that would represent Him as a nation of priests to the world, and as such, could not allow any "leaven" of sin to enter in.

It would be no different if you were trying to start a new garden and you wanted to kill off the weeds that would choke out the garden. Those who tried to introduce the seeds of doubt and rebellion had to be put a stop to right away, and as a lesson to others to not go in that direction.

Oh, one other thing - this command was not to outsiders, but to Israel. It doesn't say to kill non-believers, such as people who are not part of the congregation of Israel, but to weed out the rebellion from within Israel.

Even the passage in 2 Chronicles was about Israel, and had nothing to do with "outsiders".

A New Testament parallel would be when Ananias and and his wife Sapphira, who claimed to be Christians, lied to Peter about something, and they, as so-called CHRISTIANS (not non-Christians), died at Peter's feet because they actually lied to the Holy Spirit.

You see, it was like a marriage between God and the Israelites, they had a covenant between them and they were committed to each other, the ones who wanted to be adulterous and break the covenant knew what the consequences were
which God enforced
no different than betraying in a relationship or breaking laws etc:

Kill all the non-believers!! Let's have another Inquisition!! It'll be fun for the whole family!! You know, the terrorists say that a lot (death to the infidels and all that).

The bible was written and edited by man, and history has a long line of people who have used these ideas for the personal acquisition of power. The early church was the most corrupt terrorist organization in history.

No matter what the bible says I beleive that they wrote bit and the stories to emulate themselves as right. In one place they say a commandment handed down written directly by God. Then to justify what they want they say God told them to kill. This eases thier consience.
