There is no way that Jimmie Johnson is going to give up the championship for Jeff Gordon. This isn't Formula One, where team mates pick which one gets to be the champion. When it gets to competition, and the championship, there are no team mates in NASCAR.
What, do you think that Rick or Jeff will pay Jimmie the difference in prize money if he takes a dive? That wouldn't make any difference anyway. All of these guys are in it for much, much more than money.
Both drivers are going to give it everything they have to get the championship, and that is going to make for some great racing.

First off that will not happen. Gordon is the listed owner of Johnsons car, so it won't matter which 1 wins or comes in 2'nd. Gordon wins as an owner or a driver either way.

The person above me said it best. If Jeff Gordon wins this championship, it won't be because Jimmy let him win.

I am sorry, I don't see any possible way any driver lets another win a championship. Mark Martin was one of the classy drivers out there and no one gave him one and never did get one. You have a chance to win this one, doesn't mean you will be there again, you don't give a Championship away, you let them earn it and this will happen. They are buddies, but they have had their words and issues as well and they are not that close where he is going to hand him a CUP when he has tons of them and JJ has 1.

I dont think so. I dont pull for either one of them but drivers just dont throw a championship away. If Jimmie can win it he will. He is not going to let anybody take anything away from him. If he did I think the Nascar nation would turn on him.

No way there is no reason to, Gordon is already more established. It would better for Johnson and Hendrick for johnson to win

Jimmie should heed the words, from Mark Martin... Enjoy each victory,as much as you wan't !! Because their's no guareentee, you'll ever win again !!! Also... If Rick ask me to do something like that. I don't think Rick is the man,I wan't to be driving for !!

What a brilliant question. The answer is NO!
The reason the answer is no, is because the situation will never come up. They are a team. The Team wins no matter who wins.
