In my house, i have 2 adult cats, one short hair, and one long maine coon. my maine coon has the most fleas, she drops thousands of the little white eggs and some black things which i think is the cocoon stage. we have tried bathing them like once a week, but of course does not kill the fleas on the floor.
so we have vacuumed all around, swept, ect. we have also tried the raid for fleas. is there any product that will not bother the cats, family, iguanas, ferrets? either powder, spray, something.

frontline spot on is excellent for flea removal and prevention, you need to apply it once every 4-6 weeks depending on the size of your cat, as it is a spot on treatment it should not affect any other members of your household, you have done the right thing by hoovering the house, make sure you hoover anywhere the cats go/sleep - if you turn up your heating it will encourage any un-hatched eggs to gorw so that they can then be hoovered up.

The white things are probably dandruff, not eggs. The eggs, larvae and pupae of fleas are microscopic, you can't see them. The black specks are flea 'dirts' (poos).

You don't need to actually take a cat to the vet to pick up Frontline. She does need some so go in and get it, you can buy it over the counter without a prescription.

Also get a housespray from the vets. Don't bath the cats any more, it's pointless. Definitely don't bath them within 48 hours before or after applying Frontline or the Frontline can't spread through the skin and won't work!

Stay far away from pet store stuff - don't be tempted to turn to this crap as a cheap substitute, it doesn't work and so it actually a waste of money.

my dogs had a flea problem as well i took them to the vet and they gave us a brand called advantage they also have advantage plus which is good for heartworm and other things all combined in one. It is a simple solution that gets dropped between the shoulder blades of the animal and self-distributes all over the animal it kills everything except when in the cocoon stage and the second they are hatched and try to eat anything off of the animal it dies. After a week of applying this i saw barely any fleas and it has been one month and i have only seen 1 flea in the last 2 weeks, i will get at least 2 more treatments for them even though it seems they are gone. It is about $13 dollars for each med. and you only need to apply it once a month. GOOD LUCK!!!

My Mom likes a product called Frontline. It is a small liquid or gell & you rub it between the shoulder blades. She said it works great. There are several like this but I don't know all the brand names.
