It has all the horrific illicit fascination of a major train wreck or car crash.
You don't want to believe it but it's irrefutably there...
Beliefs, arguments, points of view that I really would not have thought existed, until I met them.
Never mind the collateral damage of fragments of the English language twisted out of almost all recognition and scattered across the landscape.
It's frightening, it's terrible. And I can't quite look away.
And is there a vague thought of actually helping somehow?
Perhaps.
And then along comes the first-aid in the guise of the drinking game... And the reassurance that there fellow-thinkers out there. One is not completely alone.

1. We all like to be heard and tell others what we know.
2. It is a great place to debate.
3. It is a great place to learn about others beliefs.
4. It is nice to connect with others when you are lonely.
5. It is an informative way to pass time when you are bored.
6. It is a great place to share the gospel of Christ.
1 Corinthians 15:1-4 says, “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.”

I come to see the panoply of human folly. The religious people are SOOOO convinced about the myths they've built up about totally invisible beings that they will go to war with it and hope for some sign that they are favoured by God.
They are so obsessed with claiming there's a Creator, meanwhile pairs of subatomic particles, one matter and one antimatter, pop out of empty space very rarely from time to time and they go, "Huh? Whatcha talkin' 'bout, Willis? Nobody had to create us, it just HAPPENS. No cause or effect in the quantum domain, dude!"

I return for the occasional intellectual stimulation. I wish there were more of it and less condemnation finger pointing.
I must admit that I find some of the intelligent silliness rather entertaining as long as it is not mean or intended to be insulting.

You're right, it IS addicting in a way. And I never looked at it as such.
What I see is that it keeps me on my toes with my own R&S knowledge.
