Do you sometimes see happy families on reality tv shows and you wish you were as happy as they are?
Just wondering because my favorite show is Run's House and they seem like such a perfect happy family.
I wish I was part of their family!

Inspiration is often born out of depression. Deep sadness is a strong emotion and it activates sensitive areas in our brains.

It can be a good time to write draw, paint, or create something new.

If your depression is too strong, and does not allow you to do that, then physical activity and sunshine might help.

If your depression is strong, and lasts for two weeks or longer, you may need to seek outside help. A school counselor would be a good place to start, or the Pastor or Pastor's wife at your church. Parents can help if you can bring yourself to talk about it.

Happiness is an elusive dream. It seems the more we pursue it, the less we have. But... if we try to give it away, it comes back to us!

I used to be just as miserable and depressed as you are. That used to happen to me too. I would watch any tv show that had happy people in it, and get even more depressed because I kept comparing their lives to my life. I don't do this anymore. I suggest you go see a therapist and tell him or her how you feel. I ended up taking an antidepressant for a while, but I no longer need it. Therapy helped a lot because I so desperately wanted to feel better, I did what they asked. Anyway, now I don't even watch TV. I'm too busy with my own life.

May I suggest a good therapist (reputable) that does Cognitive Behaviorial Therapy. And an anti-depressant may be in order but I'd try the therapy first. It's excellent but you've got to be serious about it b/c in this type of therapy you're expected to be pro-active--do homework, exercises & try out the techniques you learn.
It's definitely worth it...I, too, struggle with always thinking other ppl's lives are better than mine & I get lonely & frustrated easily.
Another thing that has helped me tremendously is reading several good self help books that says that there are so many ppl out there feeling the same way you do.
My suggestion (along w/therapy) is to try to start meeting new people who are positive for you & create your own "family of choice".

You need to get help if it's a chronic depression. It's difficult to get yourself out of the depression just by yourself. I used to depress but not anymore. I also find regular fittest traning stimulates my mind and gives me energy to go out and do things. It's a better way to fight depression than by using medication. I also find out that happiness is not what you have, it's all in your state of mind. I used to think if I can have this and have that, then I would be happy, but it didn't happen. Yes I would be happy for a little while but it didn't last long. Now I'm happy with what I have and they are the same as what I had before when I was depressed.

First of all, I have never seen this show. Noone is ever "HAPPY" all the time. I have been in your shoes plenty of times. What you make out of your life is what you get out of life. You have to remember about this show, the camera is on them all the time. Maybe in their contract it states that they have to be happy all the time. Remember the Osbournes. THEY WERE NOT HAPPY AT ALL.
