Windows Live Onecare is a load of rubbish. It came nearly last in an anti-virus detection test a few months back.

Norton, McAfee etc (the ones shops sell for ££££££) are classed as bloatware, they take over all of your memory and CPU power and then take sometimes hours to scan. Never get Norton, it is absolutely dreadful.

AVG Antivirus is a very good little program. It is extremely fast (takes just 30 minutes max to scan), updates daily and oh yeah... it's free. http://free.grisoft.com/doc/download-free-anti-virus/us/frt/0

I took Norton off a mate's computer, installed AVG and it immediately found 3 trojans that Norton had missed.

I would also suggest CCleaner and EasyCleaner.

First of all Don't download anything off the Internet I don't care how much you trust it. Unplug your computer and leave it sit for about five minutes. Then go to Best Buy and by anti-virus software. I suggest Norton anti-virus, it might be $30 but trust me it is worth it.

I wonder what program produced the bubble prompting you to get some anit-virus protection? Was it Microsoft?

When you run an anti-virus program - close down all other programs and do not connect to the Internet while it is running.

don't ever download a pop up! You may have just installed a virus. Un install the thing and use another anti virus. I like Avast or AVG. They are both free and work great.

do no longer click on particular what ever you do. I had the comparable factor. Say factor that a virus were detected and to end it to click on the particular button. it relatively is not a treatment. you're letting the Virus onto the computing gadget and any anti Virus delicate placed on should not be waiting to end it. as quickly as I did it it enable in over 3 hundred viruses. It fee a bomb to repair and nonetheless no longer one hundred%.

In a generall way Microsoft is considered a lousy product. IN antivirus and everything else. Their products alrewell known to "invite" viruses and other problems.

You can sign up for AOL and get MacAfee protection for free. It has been working for me. Make sure you delete other protection packages.

Get AVG antivirus. It's free and so are the updates. It also doesn't take control of your pc the way Norton does.
